A song from late Luther Vandross, “Dance with My Father”, which was named Grammy Award’s Song of the Year in 2004. Great song, co-written by Richard Marx…

The song brought me into tears when I first listened to it a few years back; I guess those who have lost their parent(s) would have a strong rapport with the music and lyrics… for others, it’s a lovely song regardless.

I lost my father 12 years ago when I was 17. The pain is long gone now, but I can still feel the sorrow once in a while… how much I wish that I can spend just one extra moment with my father again, just a short while will do… but it ain’t gonna happen.

Life is unpredictable, always cherish the moments you have with your family and the people you love, cuz we’ll never know what will happen tomorrow… and there is no way to turn back time.

Happy father’s day.

This goat won the ‘most beautiful goat’ title at a competition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 13. Most beautiful? I am not sure. The most bizarre looking goat that I have ever seen though… that’s for sure.

It’s always a bad thing when you received an apology from a doctor… it would have to be something like “sorry, I gave you the wrong meds,” or “sorry, I made a wrong diagnosis,” or perhaps “sorry, I cut the wrong eye…”

The University of Tokyo Hospital in Tokyo’s Bunkyo-ku has apologised to a patient for operating on the wrong eye. The doctors at the hospital mistakenly performed an operation on the right eye of a patient in his 70s who was suffering from glaucoma in both of his eyes. [Mainichi]

It shouldn’t be much trouble since that the patient’s right eye would require an operation sooner or later… the only problem was that the operated eye was not sanitised for the operation, which could lead to infection if he’s unlucky.

The hospital performed surgery on the left eye the following day after realising their mistake… on the bright note, he might get a buy-one-get-one free surgical bill. I don’t think I would want to have this kind of luck though :)

A song from Taiwanese six-member band Sodagreen, released in their late 2007 album; the title (loosely translated) is “Incomparable Beauty”…

The lead singer has a very special vocal, and their music is not blindly following the flow of the pop scene, but with the own uniqueness.

They didn’t make it big when they first debut in 2003/2004… general pop still rules obviously, but they are gaining momentum gradually and is getting quite popular these days.

Sodagreen is nominated for six categories in the prestigous Taiwan Golden Melody Award in 2008 (yet to be announced)… the future seems bright for these peeps.

The mass murder in Tokyo’s Akihabara Electric Town has left the nation in shock… a 25-year-old man turned rampage on Sunday noon, killed seven and injured 10 before he was arrested by the cops.

The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival) is celebrated by the Chinese on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese calendar (June 8 this year).

The festival is celebrated to commemorate ancient poet Qu Yuan, who jumped into a river and killed himself after his country was conquered by the other.

Locals who admired his patriotism fed rice dumplings to the fishes in the river which he committed suicide so that the fish would not disturb his body… some others also rode on boats and beating on drums to scare away the fishes for the same purpose.

Shigeo Obara, a Japanese farmer found a clover with 21 leafs last week in his garden. It’s a new Guinness record, beating his own previous record that was set in 2002 when he found a 18-leaf clover.

In Europe a 4-leaf clovers symbolize lucky but in Japan they symbolise happiness, 5-leaf clovers symbolise wealth and 6-leaf clovers are fame. [Hector]

I wonder what a 21-leaf clover would symbolise… lots of wealth, fame and happiness?
