i don’t like the song, but its a cool mv.

  2. #2. red on May 7th, 2008

err.. got some mistakes in the spelling of the names. e.g. Richie Ren (instead of Jen), Jolin Tsai (instead of Chai).

  3. #3. Yein Jee on May 7th, 2008

red… thanks for note. Actually the spellings are not really wrong, as lots of Chinese artists don’t have an official English name to begin with.

Richie Jen is sometimes used, but not as often as Richie Ren. Jolin Tsai is used most of the time, that was my mistake obviously.

Some other debatable names include Vivian Hsu (vs Vivian Xu) and Lin Chi Ling (vs Lin Zhi Ling) etc.

I think the song is beautiful.

Jang Nara can speak chinese? And what is she doing there?

  6. #6. Yein Jee on May 8th, 2008

Len… I think the song is lovely too… just a bit too long and repetitive though.

Loki… I think Nara can speak a bit of Chinese, as she has been spending lots of time in China for the past few years. She is seen by many as a cultural ambassador that helps improving China-Korea relationship… the Chinese adore her very much, and that’s probably why she is in the team.

how can someone not like the song!
i think it’s amazing, especially the chorus =]
the song has a really chinesey taste to it, but it’s not like totally old-fashioned.
i like how the video shows some of the cultural sides of china and some nice attractions. it makes me wanna visit beijing.

they chose some pretty good singers here, but there are also some that i don’t think should be there, and some that should be there but are missing.
is the little girl in the beginning a singer? i think it’s cute to begin the song with her.
i thought the older veteran singers were great, like na ying and wakin chau.
jackie chan’s singing was always not so good, but he’s a chinese hollywood star, so it’s all good. i think his son jaycee sings much better though.
who is the girl who sings at 1:47? i don’t want to be racist, but i don’t like her accent. i think the song would be more perfect without her.
jang nara doesn’t have perfect chinese either, but it was better than that girl. she’s really cute too.
i think some voices that stood out to me the most were the ones of stefanie sun, lee hom, gigi leung and eason!
as for the looks, i think lee hom looked the best for guys and vivian hsu for girls.
vivian smiles really nicely here and she looks great in yellow and her ponytail. her singing improved too =]
it’s also nice to see nic tse. but why is yumiko there? i don’t really like joey either. she’s probably there because she’s the big sister of eeg.
i also wonder why lin chi ling is there. i think she did sang before, but she should stick to modelling.
jolin is like a diva here, i love her gestures. and karen mok is cute in the pink outfit.
FIR looked so cool there! and 5566 were pretty good, even though i don’t like them much.
and finally…i wished some other singers were included in this song. like jay chou, s.h.e, david tao, leo ku and miriam yeung.

The girl at the beginning is Chen Tianjia. She sang during the closing ceremony of Athens Olympic in 2004, and is expected to perform again at the opening in Beijing this year.

The lady on 1.47 is Wei Wei, a veteran singer… I think she is of Mongolian descendant, but I am not really sure. Kinda agree with your statement bb, her tone just sound so unmatchable with the other singers.

The list is influenced by various reasons obviously, sponsorship probably plays a great part, and that’s why some of the stars are in the list and some are not.

Quite surprised when I knew that Lin Chi Ling is involved too. Not sure if she has sang in any shows before, but this is her singing debut in terms of studio recording.

bb, how can someone NOT not like the song? don’t like is don’t like, different people different taste mah. if the song is sing by ordinary people but not this dozen of famous stars, i won’t bother listening honestly, so what?

  11. #11. Yein Jee on May 8th, 2008

Calm down kyon… I believe bb didn’t mean any hostility there. You are entitled to your opinion, so do others. Peace :)

  12. #12. Loki on May 9th, 2008

Wei Wei has a bit of a lazy eye, but I bet she’s really pretty in person.

  13. #13. QuaChee on May 9th, 2008

i think one needs to replay the song a few times to enjoy it. its a lil slow i guess.

btw, i prefer the other song (which by the way has a malay version sung by michael wong, gary cao ge & many more) :)

  14. #14. bb on May 10th, 2008

kyon, i think you have a little misunderstanding here.
i didn’t direct that statement to you.
of course you can not like the song.
the reason for why i said “how can someome not like the song” is because it’s a different way to say “wow, this song is so good!”…and that is what i think of it.
it’s just like, for example, a person who likes Rain, they might say “who wouldn’t like Rain!”.
so you get what i mean now?
please don’t take it as an offense.

  15. #15. bb on May 10th, 2008

oh, i forgot to mention…thanks yeinjee for clearing it up for me =]

  16. #16. Yein Jee on May 10th, 2008

You are welcome bb, it was just a misunderstanding obviously.

you all need to calm down. who cares how who sings, why they’re there or who they are. concentrate on the lyrics. if none of you understand them, have them translated. you were all missing the message. it’s showing China is taking a big step to show they are not completely bad just because she is a communist country. she is a richly cultured country with plenty of ideas that they are willing to share just like they have influenced many countries centuries before.

stop being shallow and criticising the singers. i’d like to you infront of a microphone and camera representing your country as a whole and escaping any critisize. grow a brain and heart.

  18. #18. Yein Jee on May 26th, 2008

Min… a few critics here and there doesn’t mean that people are not appreciating the song. Besides, no songs in the world are perfect; even the best songs would be dislike by some people regardless… it’s a matter of personal preference.

I like the song, I have mentioned a few times already… but frankly, I don’t see any meaningful contents in the lyric. Again, it’s just a matter of having different point of view.

Everyone have our own role to play in the society… doctors, engineers, accountants, white collars, blue collars or students etc. We do what we do best, and we are entitled to praise and criticism for our job. Same rule apply to singers too.

hello. I’m from the Philippines. Even though I don’t understand it, I think it’s nice. (: I was really shocked why Jang Nara is in that MV. She’s Korean, right? Well, I think the video is really welcoming people for the Beijing Olympics.(: Really good video and nice voices.(:

  22. #22. Robert on July 11th, 2008

Wel Jan Nara is there because she is quite popular in China and has recorded quite a few songs in mandarin and she gained quite a popularity there so no wonder she is there…
