Korean pop star BoA’s American debut song Eat You Up is leaked on MySpace. The song was uploaded on a MySpace account, but I believe that it’s not an official account for a few reasons.
Well, it’s either a fake account, or that her PR team is making a huge blooper here. Seems like SM Entertainment is not making much noise about it though… testing online responses perhaps?
[update] The full MV is out. I was harsh on the song when her American debut was announced, and I officially hate it now.
Nothing personal; I still think BoA is a great artist, but the song doesn’t please me… the music is just ok, and the lyrics sucks. A reader told me that Eat You Up is a slang for oral sex in the states; I don’t want to draw a conclusion, but the lyrics seem to fit the suggestive title rather well, be it intentional or not.
I wonder if BoA knows exactly what she is singing.

i think the song’s alright.
but the meaning of the song lyrics could vary depending on each person’s perspective.
i wouldn’t be surprised though if the song is really hinting on oral sex.

Hmmm, good thing or bad thing!? Well, considering they are trying to break her into the US and the doubts surrounding whether the can actually pull it off, I’d call it a ‘desperate’ thing, lol. JMO. They’ll try anything to create a buzz.
the lyric is too controversial. i don’t know if it means oral sex, but the lyric looks cheap. sorry to say this, but the song makes me feel that boa is a slut, and it gives the wrong impression that asian stars have to be like that if they want to succeed in usa. i don’t like that.
the picture looks great, it shows that girls can be sexy without revealing too many body and also there is no need for the seductive lyric to show sexiness.

The lyrics above are a tiny bit off I think. And yes- it does hint at oral sex, though like any good pop song in the US it was written to work on a couple different levels to appeal to the wides audience possible (think “Hit Me Baby One More Time” peformed by Britney Spears or her “I’m a Slave For You”- same idea)

James… I switched the lyrics to your versions, which seems a bit tidy lol. Ya, I can see your point about the lyrics… it’s up to the artist (and agency) on what direction they want to go… the rest is up to whether the fans will accept it or not.
