I was harsh on the song when the American debut news was announced, and I officially hate it now. Nothing personal; I still think BoA is a talented artist, but I just don’t like the song… the music is ok, but the lyrics sucks.
A reader told me that Eat You Up is a slang for oral sex in US… but I didn’t want to jump into conclusion before listening to the whole song, which now reaffirmed that the lyrics fit perfectly well with the horny title… be it intentional or not.
I am wondering if BoA knows exactly what she is singing about.

Eat You Up will be released as a digital single on October 14; the music video is expected to be released a week earlier October 21. The delay is due to a change for plans, with the song being released simultaneously in over 30 countries instead of focusing on American market solely.

the lyric is too controversial. i don’t know if it means oral sex, but the lyric looks cheap. sorry to say this, but the song makes me feel that boa is a slut, and it gives the wrong impression that asian stars have to be like that if they want to succeed in usa. i don’t like that.
the picture looks great, it shows that girls can be sexy without revealing too many body and also there is no need for the seductive lyric to show sexiness.

And yes- it does hint at oral sex, though like any good pop song in the US it was written to work on a couple different levels to appeal to the wides audience possible (think “Hit Me Baby One More Time” peformed by Britney Spears or her “I’m a Slave For You”- same idea)

James… I switched the lyrics to your versions, which seems a bit tidy lol. Ya, I can see your point about the lyrics… it’s up to the artist (and agency) on what direction they want to go… the rest is up to whether the fans will accept it or not.
