The Burj Dubai has become the tallest man-made structure in the world.
According to developer Emaar Properties PJSC, the Burj Dubai has surpassed the height of KVLY-TV mast, a 628.8 metres television transmitting mast in North Dakota, USA.
The Burj Dubai is expected to be over 700m in height upon completion. The developer is still keeping the final height as classified to avoid competition from other tallest-buildings-wannabe currently in construction.

dubai is so rich~~
They sure are. Just a few days ago they created another record for the world’s most expensive camel… USD2.8 mil if not mistaken.
seriously, why are rich countries building so many things…
low to average income people will never be able to go there.
they should use their money towards events that will make the world a better place.
Dubai is obviously trying to brand themselves as THE place for rich and famous around the world. Lots of the times it’s not about showing off, it’s for business… attracting people investing in properties etc.
Off course it would be great if the wealth could be share for better purpose, but life is seldom that idealistic… that’s a fact of life.
yeah, that’s life.
at least this is a breakthrough in structure-building.
and it’s gonna be listed in the guinness world records.
crazy people wasting money. all this records are not lasting for more than a year, every year also have new tallest this, tallest that.
Well, the record isn’t broken as frequent as you thought.
As said earlier, it’s about business… Dubai has become the talk of the world for the past decade of their luxurious property projects; before that most people probably had never heard of this place.
I used to think that these projects are a waste of wealth. When my country (Malaysia) built the Petronas Towers (tallest buildings back then), the project was criticised as well… but it has become an icon for Malaysia these days, and it’s a popular place for both business and leisure.
the CN Tower in my city (toronto, canada) was the world’s tallest free-standing structure before dubai built this thing.
and it is a tourist attraction, but not super-popular.
it is now used every year for a fundraising event called “the cn tower climb” for the united way.
