[Updated Dec 17] E! Entertainment recently released its “25 Sexiest Men of the World” 2008 list, in which Canadian-Chinese star Edison Chen somehow ranked higher (15th) than Chinese-Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro (20th).

Well, Edison might be sexier than Takeshi in E!’s point of views (I guess the sex pics might help a bit), but the sexiest Asian title goes to Dingdong Dantes (3th) from the Philippines instead.
Bollywood actor John Abraham is the other Asian celebrity that made the list, and he too was ranked higher than the two Chinese stars at 10th.
This E! sexiest men list is a bit unique as the chosen celebs covered a wide range of different nationalities and ethnicity as compared to most other sexiest/hottest lists which are dominated by Hollywood stars. Arguable… but nice try.

I wanna know the reason why they picked Dingdong. If they just wanna add in a filipino guy to the list they should’ve gone w/ someone else. There are so many others to choose from. Seems like they just googled filipino actors and his name came up first since his career is so hot right now.

John Abraham is pretty good looking so his ranking seems right. Ryan Reynolds beat Takeshi Kaneshiro and Olivier Martinez -come on….. I guess it has to do with name recognition too.

Well, a list like this will create plenty of debates, and there is no right or wrong about that… it’s personal taste obviously, and this is what the panel of judges have chose on behalf on E!… if we change the judges we might have a totally different set of names, which again won’t please anyone either way.
Personally… Takeshi wins over Edison :p
jenny… E! didn’t put Edison as Canadian, it was me… and as far as I know, Edison is indeed a Canadian in nationality despite making his fame in Chinese entertainment industry.
hello-kyon… as bb said, I think kyon didn’t mean anything harsh. To be frank, dingdong is indeed a funny (or cute depends on how you see it) name because it resembles the Chinese name of a popular Japanese cartoon character (Doraemon).

david beckham is soo sexyy <33 lol i still like edison and still think he’s sexy! to be honest a lot of the people on the list i don’t know. but the ones i know.. i’m surprised Enrique Iglesias made the list. i thought he like.. retired. lol, haven’t heard his name in a really long time. but edison. i’m happy he’s 15th. :) he definately can make it in hollywood.. is he in any other movies other than gruge 2 that i didn’t watch cuz i hate scary movies?
judy… he appeared in Dark Knight, but cameo only; about 5 seconds with a one liner. I don’t think he can make it in Hollywood… the film producers have to think about the marketability of the Asian star if they decide to use one in their movie, and to be frank Edison is not really that popular yet in the west, and his popularity in Asia is seriously dampened already. There’s no good reason for Hollywood producers to choose Edison over the others.
That ranking is wrong, it was PREMATURELY released by an Australian news website where an ALLEGED Australian judge mentioned that Keith Urban was the Australian included in the list. There’s no Keith Urban in the final list, the Australian included is Eric Bana.
The E video “25 Sexiest Men in The World” has so far been released in the UK. It’s next to be released in the Americas & Asia.
The top Asian in the list, Dingdong Dantes, is in 3rd place, not 6th as earlier reported.

Hi! dingdong is just a nickname. His real name is Jose Sixto Raphael Gonzales Dantes III.
I used to watch him in the hit Filipino show TGIS before and I think he was known then as Raphael Dantes. I’m not a fan of him, too but aside from being an actor, he is also a director, tv host and model. I think he has accomplished much @ 28. I also heard that he studied at the Ateneo de Manila University.
