Chinese star Isabella Leong has reached an out-of-court settlement with Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) to cancel her contract with the agency, which literally means that Isabella is now a free agent and can do whatever she wants in future.

Isabella was AWOL in early 2008 and prompted EEG to file a lawsuit against her in April for breaching of contract; but Isabella, with the backing of her rich boyfriend, had counter-sued EEG for unfair contract terms instead.

The first court hearing for the cases was supposed to be held this morning (Nov 3), but reporters found out on Saturday that the hearing has been cancelled… EEG later confirmed that a settlement has been reached, but didn’t provide further details as the info is deemed confidential as part of the agreement.

Maybe I should find me a rich girlfriend, then I can go AWOL from my job…..and do whatever I want to lead a spoild life.

Unfair contract terms….hmmm. Did she not feel that way when she SIGNED the contract in the first place? Sounds like the rich boyfriend may have paid off the judge. Money talks.

i read from a chinese article that said isabella explained that when she first signed the contract, she was really young, like 12/13, so it was a bit misleading and unfair. she also said that with the money that she made, the company would keep a fairly large amount of it, and just give her what’s left.

it’s not hard to understand…that’s eeg. that’s why i feel happy for her that she’s out of their control. i really hate how eeg has such unfair contract terms. but anyway, it doesn’t really bother me to hear that bella’s rich bf is backing her up and all that. eeg is more evil when it comes to using money to do unbelievable things.

Well, it’s always difficult to judge these cases… unfair contract terms? Most probably… but the artists did know what they were getting into right?

Isabella’s case might be a bit special for the fact that she was a minor when the contract was signed… but then is the poor education level of her mother a valid excuse for the contract signing?

There’s plenty of rooms to debate… but it’s all settled now, which is probably a win-win-win situation for all.

I won’t mind about the rich bf/gf issue though; it’s their personal choices… beautiful girls want rich bf, rich guys want beautiful (and probably young) gf… it’s match made from heaven lol.
