June 1 is World Milk Day. The date was picked by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and was first celebrated officially in 2001.

Milk

The World Milk Day provides an opportunity to focus attention on milk and to publicise activities connected with milk and the milk industry. The fact that many countries choose to do this on the same day lends additional importance to individual national celebrations and shows that milk is a global food. [FAO]

It’s an odd time to celebrate the international Milk Day though… Africa is facing food crisis with milk prices soaring high in some places; while Europe might be facing a different kind of shortage crisis with dairy farmers going on strike to protest against low prices.

hmm…i think soya doesn’t really count.
but maybe chocolate or other flavoured milk does?
they sell like strawberry, blueberry and other fruit-flavoured milk here in canada.
i only drink white and chocolate though…
soya milk is good, but it’s like, usually pretty sweet.
you can get the sugar-free ones, but they taste so bad.
