English-subbed music video of “Pretty Girl” from Korean girls group Kara, a song from their same title mini-album which was released in early December 2008.

Cute girls, bubbly tune, self absorbant lyrics, upbeat video… which reminds me of some J-pop groups like Morning Musume and AKB48 somehow. Would be great if the choreography is more original; it’s looking a bit too similar with a few others.

The song was pretty catchy when I first listened to it, kinda fits the holiday season mood… but just ok after playing it for a few times.

agree that it reminds of morning musume, especially at the early settings of the mv and the song.. the ‘yeah yeah’ is so typical of japanese idols groups.

Well Tsunku (or whatever his name is) made a fortune and created ridiculous fame because he formed Morning Musume and the later subgroups..plus I think he originally produced the earlier cutesy hit songs. Maybe some are realizing now to follow the trend…hehehe…just for profits.

The Momusu idea has been adopted by the Koreans for a couple of years now… most notably by SM with Super Juniors and Girls Generation where the stars are working in the main group, sub groups and solos… and the age of the rising Korean stars are also getting much younger like the Japanese.

The Japanese kind of cutesy doesn’t invade much into Korea though; the Koreans seem to have a different perception in (act) cuteness.
