His journey was completed in Shanghai on September 28, 2008 [via Shanghaiist]
Rob has unofficially broken the Guinness World Record for the ‘longest journey by skateboard’ currently hold by by Dave Cornthwaite with a distance of 5,823km. Rob’s attempt has been submitted to Guinness and is currently under evaluation.
Video below is a summary of his final 1,200km journey from Xixia to Shanghai; which kinda reminds me of Chinese movie “Getting Home”…

this reminds me of something.
when i went to china 2 years ago, i met a guy from switzerland trying to bike to hong kong. he stopped at a restaurant where my family was having dinner. he wanted to ask about directions, but no one spoked english there exept for me, so i helped him out!
Are you sure you didn’t give the wrong directions lol. Ya, there are lots of adventurous guys out there… I wish I could be as gutsy, but the thought of travelling on bicycle etc for a few thousand miles seems kinda scary for me.
Hey thanks for the write-up. There are many people out there cycling you know…not so many on skateboards…but still, it’s a great way to get around!
Thanks again,
Rob Thomson
You are welcome Rob. It’s one amazing (and crazy) feat.
coooooool….. and the video looks great too. good luck for the world record attempt rob, i hope you can get recognition for what you did :)
lol, not totally sure.
but that guy had a map with him and i asked my parents for verification.
so i guess he went the right way. =P
