Japanese pop starlet May’n will be performing live in Singapore at the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2008 on November 23 [more on AFA and Darkmirage]
The 19-year-old singer is one of Japan’s hottest rising star. She made her professional debut in 2005, and her breakthrough came in 2008 as the singing voice for Sheryl Nome in hit anime “Macross Frontier”. Her two latest singles have both made it to the top 3 spots at Japanese Oricon chart… quite an achievement for a young talent.

While not exactly the same class (yet) with the likes of J-pop divas Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro etc… May’n’s performance is quite anticipated in this region that is so deprived of J-pop act. Besides, Japanese anime is getting huge in South East Asia these days; and Macross Frontier happens to be one of the most popular animes of the year. Plenty of otakus are awaiting her arrival for sure.

macross frontier still very new…. i think many people not watch it yet, and many don’t know about who she is… me neither before reading this :p
I can see your point. I guess it depends on the anime genre as well; mecha fans are certainly more aware of Macross and who’s who, but there might be a large number of other anime fans that might not pick up the anime just yet (or perhaps not interested at all).
yein jee,i agree with you.even i’m not watching macross yet, (bcoz i never watching macross before bcoz macross is not my favorite anime after all) you’re totally right.it depends on what kind of genre is it.but when it comes to her (may’n) appearance in AFA,it would attract so many people to get closer to that anime and also to promote back the anime that was so popular a long time ago.yein jee,do you read my comment that i give you on ‘Life’s like that’ and ‘Singapore welcomes anime festival’ post?
Hafizi… yes, I did read those comments. So?
when you will reply the comment about the song lyrics that i give to you from ‘Singapore welcomes anime festival’ on the bottom of the comments? how is it? nice? ok?
Hafizi… if I don’t reply about something, that’s probably because there is nothing to reply about. I am totally clueless what you are expecting to get after that comment… I mean, what am I supposed to reply?
Besides, if you want to chat about GT, please keep it at the GT articles instead… I can easily track the new comments even if it’s on an old article. Kindly understand that blog comments are not just about you and me… there are hundreds of others reading these and might get really confused with we sway off topic like this.
it’s ok.i promise next time i will the write the comment that is suitable to the main topic.i will try to not repeat the mistake once again and will not to sending the wrong comment to the wrong topics.
Apology is not needed Hafizi… thanks for the understanding.
a pity i won’t be free to attend/cosplay in the event, due to personal stuff. >,<
Well, I have to skip this event as well… have a wedding dinner to attend in Ipoh.
