Naomi Yotsumoto the ping-pong fashionista

Naomi Yotsumoto is currently one of the most talk-about Japanese ping-pong players, not just for her skills, but mainly for her fashion and style during the games…

Picture of Japanese table tennis player Naomi Yotsumoto

The 29-year-old Tokyo native is a professional ping-pong player in Japan. Naomi’s achievements in the sport were decent, but not quite to the world-elite levels. There’s no question about her popularity though, as she now owns a TV show and a published autobiography [via Tokyomango]

There are no official dress codes for ping-pong games, but most of the players, male or female, are dressed in baggy T-shirts and sport pants.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is looking to change that by sexing up their attire particularly for the female players to increase the popularity of the sport around the world…

Perhaps we will see more female ping-pong players wearing tight cloths and mini-skirts in near future… but obviously, Naomi is already a step above the rest in fashion sense.

A video below (in Japanese) with Naomi Yotsumoto in action; do not confuse Naomi with the other girl on 2:45-3:45… that’s Ai Fukuhara, arguably the most popular Japanese ping-pong player at the moment…

Another shorter video with different fashion…

By far the hottest ping pong playa I’ve ever seen, ;p

So Japan is gonna try to “sex up” the attire to increase popularity huh? Go Japan.

  2. cole says:

Her eyebrows seem to make her look angry though in that video. Maybe they are painted on. lol Alot of those drawn on eyebrows that these girls wear todya look mad or angry or just a little too intense.

  3. Yein Jee says:

It’s not just Japan… ITTF is the international organisation.

I am not sure if ‘sex up’ is the right word to use… but the idea is to make the athletes more attractive which indirectly will generate more interest to the game.

I love the rainbow stripes in the middle photo!

  5. bb says:

hey, she looks really nice in that hot pink outfit! like a model!
i don’t find her attire makes her look too sexy though.
at most, it’d be a healthy and sporty kind of sexy =P

  6. Yein Jee says:

Ya, the dresses are just nice… the hairdo is a bit over though lol.

  7. cole says:

“sex up” is OK to say imo. May as well call it what it is. Sex sells, it always has. Of course, the person wearing the clothes is pretty sexy too. ;)

  8. kyon says:

her look ok only, but her body so fit, and nice legs :p

  9. joseph says:

Her appearance must be a resistance to the conservative ping-pong fashion, though no one else seems to follow her. If only she’s a better player (ITTF ranking 431th)

  10. Yein Jee says:

Well, she used to be in around 150 on ITTF ranking if not mistaken. 431 is still not too bad… that probably put her in the top 10 or top 20 in Japan right?

  11. judy booty says:
