Lots of S.H.E hit songs are cover songs, but it has been working well for them all these years… so I guess the company won’t want to take a risk to try something more original.

These girls can sing obviously… and lots of the time they do sing better than the original singers.

It’s funny, I get teased all the time because I like them and people say, oh they are just young girls. I say, yeah,….and so? They are talented singers and I like their music and harmonies, They are very very tight and well produced ,so, who cares about how young they are, (or were for that matter). To me it just means they’ll have more time. And they are great singers for their age.

In my opinion, these girls could potentially be a bigger hit in America than somebody like BOA if the could only sing more in English.

These girls can sing… but I doubt they can really appeal to the western audiences. Their style just doesn’t feel right… and they lack the originality that I believe is critical to be successful in the west.

Let me just say, the Britney stuff is getting old in the west. It’s slowly going out. I’ll also say that alot of things that make it big are sometimes the least expected and nothing like what has been established as the “standard” for success. BOA is trying to do what is and has been current in the west up to present. No new style, no real sex appeal imo. No ‘it’ quality. Just OK.

I don’t know about the act S.H.E neccesarily making it in the west but I’m willing to say that if somebody like Selina or even Hebe were to get with a talented U.S. producer as a solo act, some things could happen that would come awfully close to breaking the mold and surprising everyone. Somebody like Selina is just sexy and her soft voice and demeaner is such a contrast to all the hard tough girl image in the west pop singers that no one would have seen it coming if she hit it big. Only problem is….the English.

This is just one western opinion of course, but I’ve always tended to see things a little differently than the majority of the trend followers, lol.

You might be right… I don’t think the Chinese artists will be as enthusiast as the Koreans when it comes to US venture though.

Japan probably have the 2nd largest domestic music market behind US, and the Chinese market is showing plenty of potential with the huge mainland China market. The Koreans however are having the dilemma domestically…

While the Japanese and Chinese best sellers are in million(s) of copies, the best sellers in Korea are often less than 300k. They have no choice but to try expanding oversea… and US probably have the largest Korean population outside of Korea.

To be frank I think the Koreans should try to tap in the South East Asia market first… I wonder if they realised that SEA are populated that North America, and that they already have lots of fans here but are not given much love.
