Popular Korean actress Song Hye-kyo will be starring in the new movie directed by international renowned director John Woo. The announcement was made on May 20 in Cannes where the 61st Cannes Film Festival is currently being held.
The movie, titled “1949″, is scheduled to start filming by end of the year in China, Japan and Taiwan. Song Hye-kyo will star alongside Taiwanese actor Chang Chen in the movie, which would be about an epic love during the turbulence time in Shanghai.

It’s about marketing. It’s not easy to sell Asian movies these days, and Chinese movies always try to involve as many artists from variety countries as possible… it gives better chances in box office.

Ya, she is supposed to be filming an independent movie in US. Not sure how the filming has progressed, and haven’t heard of any trailers yet.
yes…i think that news was last year, but till now no updates yet, wonder what happened to that…what i hope is that the sequel of FULL HOUSE will push through…i miss her Rain together!!
Well, it’s an independent movie… so it probably has limited budget for promotion. Besides, she is not that famous in US… I don’t think her participation would get much attention from the press.
Both Rain and Song Hye-kyo are trying to make it into Hollywood… I doubt they would be working together anytime soon. It would be fun if they could star in the same Hollywood movie in future… but it’s a long way to go.
