“Koko ni Iru yo” (ここにいるよ – I’m Right Here) is a Japanese song by SoulJa (not to be confused with American entertainer Soulja Boy) featuring Thelma Aoyama. The lyrics and its melodic tunes (and also the MV itself) created lots of echoes from those who are in long distance relationship.

English subbed music video of Koko ni Iru yo (the MV actress is not Aoyama btw)…

Soba ni Iru ne

Koko ni Iru yo was a huge hit in 2007. A different version of the song, “Soba ni Iru ne” (そばにいるね – I’ll Be by Your Side) was released in early 2008 from the female’s perspective instead, with Aoyama the dominance singer.

Soba ni Iru ne was named the best love song at the Student Voice Awards 2008. It’s also recently certified by the Guinness Record as the best-selling song as a full mobile download (chaku-uta) in Japan.

Love both of the songs; the first MV fits the theme much better though.

i know that soba ni iru ne is much, much more popular than koko ni iru yo..
but i personally prefer koko ni iru yo simply b/c rhythm of the song (piano music) is much more intense..like when you listen to it, it pulls you completely into the song..and i do agree that soulja’s deep voice contributes to the *soul* factor ;)
all in all, i like both songs, but i love koko ni iru yo better <3
soulja should get at least half of the credit aoyama-san gets b/c he did write soba ni iru ne..and she’s absolutely famous now..
