Official movie trailer of “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”, which will hit the cinema on August 1 in US…

This second sequel of The Mummy is directed by Rob Cohen and starred Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello, John Hannah, Luke Ford, Michelle Yeoh, Isabella Leong and Russell Wong. No more Rachel Weisz, with regrets.

The trailer seems promising… probably a bit bitter to swallow for Chinese, as their culture are being westernised completely (e.g. Chinese dragons aren’t supposed to look like that etc.); but from entertainment point of view, it should be a decent movie.

Chinese starlet Isabella Leong is making her Hollywood debut with the movie… but her role seems almost negligible in the trailer. Hopefully she can still charm the audiences with her limited appearance. Michelle Yeoh seems cool though.

On side note, the production team also made a bizarre teaser that tie the movie with the coming Beijing Olympics; here it is, The Mummy Olympics

cool trailer, lol at jet li throwing fire.. i think his martial art skills is going to be wasted in the movie. but maybe still worth watching. can’t see much about isabella.. and is she kissing with the white guy? ai.. the chinese are going to hate this, the white guys are kissing all their chicks. last time its crystal liu in forbidden kingdom, now isabella with the mummy.

Can’t wait to see this one. Love Jet LI. This hows how important China is becoming these days, when Hollywood is incorporating more Chinese themes in it’s movies. ie: Pirates of the Carribean with the Chinese pirates.

Oh me. the world is going to end….a Chinese girl kissed a white guy, lol. No wonder people move to America these days. You’re free to think and do what you like with your personal life….including kissing a girl of a different race.

kyon… with all the special effects and CGI, Jet Li’s true power is never really seen in western movies. He fared much better during 90s with his Chinese movies.

Well, about the kissing… it’s ok for white to kiss white or Asian kissing Asian but not mixing around? Kissing scenes happen in almost all Hollywood movies these days, there is nothing intrusive about a white kissing a yellow… just that some Chinese are taking this thing a bit too serious.

i’m wondering…is the movie more of an action or horror movie?
because i personally don’t like watching horrors.
they’ll give me nightmares after. =P
and from the past 2 mummy movies, there were some scenes that were quite scary (for me at least, haha).
although the trailer looks good, they might not show the scary scenes in here in case some little kids sees it, right?
i want to watch it…but then if it’s gonna be too scary, i’ll need to think about it first, lol.

Well, the flesh eating bugs are creepy indeed… but I never thought of The Mummy being a horror movie.

The original mummy movie was a true horror flick as were many of those early classics during the 30’s. And no special effects in those were needed. Just the creepy face of Boris Karloff, lol. And the old b/w look of those films. Damn they ought to make one more flick like those old ones just for fun with the old orginal look and everything.

These new flicks are just lot’s of blood, lots of noise, for the most part. But I do like some of the new effects they use nowadays.

i personally don’t have problem with white guys kissing chinese chicks, but some chinese are very sensitive about it. i read a lot from chinese forums about their dissastifaction with crystal liu kissing that white guy in forbidden kingdom.. also not to forget the abuse on zhang ziyi because he has a white bf. some chinese are too sensitive, not me.

I was thinking, it actually makes a little sense to me that Chinese would have a little hard time getting used to any racial mixing of relationships at all, because afterall, China has mostly been largely a homogeneous society for so long.

The west on the otherhand has been inhabited by so many different races for so long and had so many past issues regarding race that it had to deal with, that it’s become accustomed to different races mingling with each other in relationships and other situations…..It’s really had no choice if all those many different races are to live together in one area.

I think the Chinese just have to have time to get used to the idea.

although special effects may make the scenes look unnatural, i think they’re still cool. =P i also want to watch jet li and isabella’s debut in hollywood.
but would the movie freak me out? lol.
i don’t know how to describe my level of tolerance on horrors…
i watched the dark knight though, and i do think joker looks scary, but i didn’t have to hide behind anyone (i did close my eyes for some scenes though) haha.

about the issue on chinese girls kissing white guys…
sensitive chinese people just need to get over with it.
they need to realize they’re actors and it’s a movie.
it’s not like crystal liu is their daughter.
besides, a lot of chinese girls date white guys too. not just zhang ziyi.
even chinese guys sometimes date white girls.
the point is, this could happen to anyone and anywhere.
i predict one day, a big portion of the world’s population is gonna be mixed.
because once someone is born mixed, they’ll have to give birth to a child who’s also mixed. it can’t be reversed.

most chinese girls that i know, including myself, do prefer chinese guys.
but they do sometimes have crushes on white guys too.
    who they’ll end up with…? it’s fate =P
