Japanese pop star Ayumi Hamasaki is releasing her new album “Next Level” in USB flash drives (limited version) along with regular CDs…

“Next Level” USB-album… pretty cool design (Image from Avex (Jp))

The idea is not new; American stars Matchbox 20 and Jennifer Lopez have done this before. Ayu is probably the first popular Japanese singer to try this though… I guess she is stamping her mark as the trendsetter at the land of the rising sun yet again.

    wow, it’s so pretty.
i bet all girls will love it.
i wonder if you can also use it as a normal usb, lol.
if so, i’d buy it, since my english name also starts with an “a”. =)
but then, it must be quite expensive since it’s limited.

I can be used as normal USB; it’s a 2GB thumb drive, and the album will use around 800MB… the rest is usable for other purposes.

Cost 6800 yen, around USD74 or CAD91… sounds extravagant for some, but not too expensive in Japanese standard.
