she has a powerful voice that doesn’t fit her body lol. but its great. people are talking so much about boa and utada making it in america… maybe charice will become the first big asian stars in america and not them =P

NO DOUBT Charice has already surpassed BoA and Utada. Honestly, I doubt a lot of people in the Western part of the world even know who BoA or Utada is and I doubt they’ve even heard of any of their songs. They are known for those video game songs, but pretty much, nobody knows any of their “real” songs. I KNOW Charice will be THE ONE and most likely for a while, THE ONLY, in Asia to make it in Hollywood. The other ones will fade away and go back to their respective countries and keep on singing, til another group of Asian popstars try to take a “crack” at Hollywood fame. Then, we’ll see which ones are able to hang on in Hollywood. So far, I don’t really know any Asians who have made it in Hollywood since they are already categorized as being “J-Pop”, “K-Pop”, “Asian Pop”, etc. They can’t really break out of that mold. Lucky for harice she was TRULY discovered on YOUTUBE, just like a few people who have risen to fame through YOUTUBE. Good luck to Charice. Prove to everyone that YOU are the FIRST ASIAN STAR to make it in Hollywood’s music industry.

in asia, usually peoples talk about boa, utada seven rain who makes breakthrough and mild success in american music scene but they dont know charice of the philippines got the real success in america as evidence by cracking billboard charts(highest among asians so far #44 usa #35 canada)top 10 itunes top 1 amazon downloads)

  6. #6. mejie on July 6th, 2009

yeah, success in american music depends on charts result base on billboards hot 100.sorry to rain seven boa and wonder girls they didnt enter in top 100,consider it flop.my newest fave diva charice debut at no.44 in usa,no.35 canada and her note to god was include in music compilation NOW thats what i call music vol.31 as a final track, isnt it interesting?! Here’s hoping that Charice’s 1st US album will sell hugely when it comes out if only because she has delighted many people through her numerous videos on Youtube. It’s about time that an Asian get wide recognition beyond Asia. She can open doors for her fellow Asians. Let’s support her.

this little girl from asia will be the next in line of whitney celine mariah…truly asian diva

Charice will make it big time. No disrespect to the other Asian artists who tried to cross-over to America, BUT they didn’t exactly do much. In fact, I don’t even know who those Asians are. They didn’t crack the Billboard 100 or even 200 (most likely). No compilation CDs with any other famed international artists, no big promotions. While Charice’s single only lasted for about a week or two, I believe it would’ve gained more popularity for a longer amount of time IF they had promoted it on the radio, TV, etc. There were no promotions for this EXCEPT on Oprah & a few websites/pages/blogs. Charice’s management really needed & NEED to step up with their promotion of Charice’s single. Now that she’s back in the US, her team needs to start working on promoting her single again OR debut another single that’s on her album. Congrats Charice, #44 Billboard 100, #35 Canada, #1 Amazon.com, Top 5 on iTunes. THAT’S AN AMAZING FEAT FOR AN UPCOMING ARTIST! We all can’t wait for your album.

now she is back in america,i wish her management teams will full swing the promotions and appearances etc…a note to god is only a digital download single release in itunes and but it managed to crack in charts inspite having no mv and limited appearance and promotions.

lucky for charice, her single managed to chart in billboards, itunes, amazon without mv and limited appearances.unfortunate to those korean pops, huge promotions and endless appearances but still american are not ready on their styles

  13. #13. Jake on July 12th, 2009

Agree, that these Korean artists trying to cross over aren’t making much of an effect. Countless promotions, but NOTHING! America has their own style. Go Charice!!!!

This girl is really good. Her YT videos are all amazing. I’m sure her album will be a hit regardless of what age range she’s trying to capture. Good luck to you Charice.

hoy pipay, ikaw ang pangit dahil wala kang achievement compared to charice.you are crab diguising as a human!expect this to happen in a small venues compared to araneta.pangit ka nga both inside and outside! Its your problem because charice didnt personally invite you to watch.whos sorry now?!

  17. #17. Wilhelmina on July 21st, 2009

I think the thing that made Pipay disappointed at Charice’s concert in SMX has nothing to do with the singer herself. We have to blame the organizers about what happened. WORSE thing took place in the Middle East a few months ago when Charice was scheduled to perform. The Indian organizer took all the money and left! Charice and the other Filipino performers had to rent hotel rooms and paid them on their own. People who bought the tickets were not able to see any show and they were not able to get their money back. These people also felt disappointed, much more than you felt, Pipay… not because of Charice but due to the organizer. But did you hear them blame Charice or the other performers about this? And I’m sure, this is your first time to know about this thing, right? Because these people know to themselves that the performers are not to be blamed on this that’s why they are “silent”. Pipay… it only takes common sense! Hope this sense becomes “common” to you!
