Cyber Figure Alice (ARis) – interactive virtual figurine

Cyber Figure Alice (ARis) is a 2008 product by Geisha Tokyo (Jp), featuring an interactive virtual anime figurine created with augmented reality technology [wiki] which combines virtual reality and real world elements.

Check out the Japanese promotional video below (minor NSFW)…

I was a bit confused when I first watched the above video; but it’s actually a simple play involving some sensor cubes, a webcam and software which allowed players to ‘interact’ with the virtual character, albeit in rather perverted manners.

The video below (Jp) should give you a better idea on how it works…

Set aside the minor sexual fetishism, I think it’s a cool creation. Change it to Winnie the Pooh, Transformers or something else, and it could be an interesting toy that fits all ages. ARis doesn’t come cheap though; cost around USD160 a piece.

Btw, remember the Japanese fella who wanted to marry an anime character? I think he would be so happy with this toy lol.
