The polluted Buriganga River in Dhaka city, capital of Bangladesh which is often rated as one of the world’s worst cities to live in…
My heart wrenched when I watched the kids swimming in the river like a fun-filled swimming pool; it’s saddening, yet reminded me of how blessed I am.

“There are laws against dumping of waste…but they are rarely enforced” That Statement is the core of the problem.
Third world countries with corrupt or poorly run governments. No real regulation. No real solutions, too many people, too much waste and no real plan of how to deal with it all. Sad.
Places like these need real leadership. They need hope from within.
In fact, as the world continues to populate more and more, and the resultive problems continue to compound more and more, it is in real need of some broad innovative thinking and real tangible change lately imo….Or at least getting to that point pretty fast.
Holy cow.. sigh
This is pretty gross. It is sad that society allows this kind of polution to happen.
But there is nothing much that we can do right?
I suppose the nations could all pitch in ‘alot’ of money and go over and clean up their mess….but then what? Will it just get polluted again, sustaining a viscous cycle of a broken system?
The factories’ dumping policies and the government enforcement need to be addressed for a long term solution.
I agree with cole that need to address factories and government enforcement first.
Otherwise, even if other nations pitch in money to clean up the mess, the problem will still be there at the end of the day.
