Hong Kong (retired) actress Gigi Lai, 38, announced yesterday (Feb 6) that she has tied the knot with 52-year-old businessman husband.
Gigi didn’t share much about her actual wedding date, but the latest news suggested that the couple was already registered in September 2008, a month before Gigi announced her showbiz retirement.
Congratulations and have a happy marriage.
So typical. pretty actress (retired and slightly past her prime) goes and finds some older (graying around the temples) rich sugar-daddy businessman to keep her fed and clothed and living the highlife for the rest of her days. All the while he probably has a few young sweet mistresses on the side that he sees occasionally to keep him satisfied. Lol, same ol story.
Well, what other options do these artists have? It’s finding either a rich and young, or a rich and old… there’s no reason why she would want to choose a guy that’s not as well being than she already is, especially when she probably has plenty of options to choose from. Same old story, same old argument :)
To be fair to Mr Ma… he probably won Gigi’s heart fair and square. He was by her side when her brother was badly injured in a traffic accident, if there was someone else showing similar support back then, the story might be different now. Right place at the right time I guess… but it’s a win nonetheless.
Oh there’s always many options I guess. I remember Liz taylor married a carpenter and was with him quite some time. She could have married a rich guy in keeping with her lifestyle regardless of whether she needed his money or not.
But if Mr Ma was by Gigi’s side during her brother;s accident then that would certainly bode well for him in her heart. Was he already dating her before her brother’s accident? Were they already in love. I don’t know.
My only point was that so many former actresses and artists marry money to retain their former lifestyle. Maybe it’s not the case with her. I’m sure some just marry for love as well. Of course I wish the two of them well.

it feels awkward for me to look at the picture because i’m currently watching a tv series called “the gem of life” which is still airing in hk. in the series, gigi is coupled with moses chan, and many audience say that this onscreen couple looks really good together.
but anyway, i bet some hk people are at least a bit disappointed by this…including her fans.

they do look like father-daughter. maybe because the husband look a bit older than his age, while gigi a lot younger.. making the gap looking more than it should be. but good for her, hope they can enjoy their new life.
i think Gigi sufferred alot in life, there is a saying all men are cheaters. if you can choose why not choose a rich cheater than to suffer being poor. all men are the same.
I admit she is way too pretty for him but if love cannot make her happy, maybe money will make her happy. you can only choose one in life.

I think people are over-reacting about Gigi marrying a millionaire. Some say she lied, some said she’s a slut, some even said she’s fake. But to me, I felt like a celebrity is human after all, they want the same comfort and love as everyone else. And I’m sorry, but to dislike Gigi for who she chose as a husband is very immature. It’s her life and I’m glad she kept it a secret, because what would have happened if it was leaked years before? It could’ve broken them up due to tabloids and gossips. I support Gigi and it really doesn’t matter if he’s older and doesn’t look good. She has grown out of that stage where she needed a handsome man, now Gigi is approaching 40, she needs a stable and loving husband. Who knows if he does have side mistresses or not, but the point is, it’s her life and her decision. I think she deserves a good man and I’m sure Gigi is true to her words of marrying for love. She has worked since 14 and I can’t imagine entering showbiz at 14 and never finishing school or getting a chance to do anything else except handle your family’s finances. I currently do that and I can only imagine starting at 14 like she did. I truly wish them the best and happiness.
What ever reason she married this guy is only be known to herself and God.
However, if she came out and said that she chose to retire and marry this guy because she like to be with him, care and love, etc rather than making excuses for herself.
Something like retirement because of the need to take care of her brother, bah, bah, bah.
This is because one has to be honest to oneself. If you cannot be honest to yourself, how do you expect the other people be respectful to you.
Also, if she got married in September 2008; why not to tell the truth but lied with the excuse of taking care of her brother.
More puzzle is the fact that she came out and broadcast to the world in February 2009 that she had married to this guy.
Apparently, a four months away from the limelight is torture enough for her; so she wants the spot light again.

Gigi does look really happy in this picture but i am really surprised that she is retiring because she did so good in the gem of life. At first when i looked at the picture i thought the guy was her father. But when i read the article i realize that the guy is her husband.
Gigi cant be with moses because he is with Bernice.
I love Gigi Lai. She is the sweetest, sexiest, prettiest and the most beautiful tvb actress but I can’t accept the fact she married the old man. She has so many choices. She should have chosen Julian Hui rather than this old man.
There’s no doubt that Gigi Lai has a baby face and she’s indeed a very beautiful actress with flawless skin.
I personally feel that these days TVB has a lot of newcomers like Linda Chung but none of them looks as good as Gigi Lai, Linda Chung looks much older than her age in Gem of Life.
As for Gigi Lai’s marriage to Mr Ma, whether or not she married Mr Ma for love or money only she knows best, well, sometimes we just can’t blame them if they married for money. We just wish them happiness and good health.
I hope Gigi Lai will appear once in a while in tv though.

Wow, people can be so hateful. I really don’t think people should judge a person if they married for love or money. What would you people do if a guy/girl with lots of money came to your door to propose? Would you turn him/her away? Chances of turning that rich person away is slim, but I do believe in true love. I’m sure many of us have had the chance to date a rich person, but you decided to pick a person w/ common interests instead. I know I have and I know I made a good choice. And I don’t think it’s such a big deal w/ Gigi marrying Mr. Ma who isn’t handsome and good-looking like Leon Lai or Aaron Kwok and just fyi, those male stars are dating ladies who are 14-15 years younger. I don’t see people complaining. I would rather our ladies pick wisely and choose a person that can care for you instead of an immature, idiotic, young and good-looking guys who don’t do crap w/ their lives except wreak havoc and ask mommy & daddy for money.
