Congratulations to American-Japanese star Leah Dizon, who gave birth to a healthy baby daughter on April 24th in Tokyo. The 22-year-old idol got married to a Japanese stylist in a shotgun wedding last October.

    Happy belated birthday Yumi :)

  4. #4. bb on April 27th, 2009

yeinjee, leah’s not japanese. her ethnicity is actually chinese, filipino and french.
anyway, a 22-year-old mom is just so young. plus, she’s beautiful and famous too.
that’s so much for girls to envy about.
i like leah, so if she makes a comeback, i hope it won’t be a hard time for her.

  5. #5. Yein Jee on April 27th, 2009

Yeah, I know. American-Japanese is from the perspective of birth place and where she is currently based.

It’s not easy to make her comeback, but if there’s any idol that can do it (after giving birth) in Japan… it’s Leah :)

  6. #6. Sherry on April 27th, 2009

    Oh wow! Congrats Leah ^_^!

  7. #7. Jenny on April 27th, 2009

    Congratulations to her.
But I would say her fame in Japan is over, she started losing popularity already before her pregnancy.
And after announcing a shotgun wedding her fans began to distance themselves more (majority of her fanbase were young men)

  8. #8. Leah fenatic on April 29th, 2009

Leah is not Chinese or French, you fools. She’s half white and half Filipino.

  9. #9. Yein Jee on April 29th, 2009

fenatic… get your facts right before insulting people.

Her father is a Chinese-Filipino, mother American-French… as mentioned from her official website.

Besides, WHITE is not an ethnic or nationality to begin with.

  10. #10. bb on April 30th, 2009

it’s funny how some people are so-called fans of so and so, but they never get the basic facts right…even when there are so many sources to confirm from.
i always see people debate over leah’s ethnicity. they really just assume what they think is right.

  11. #11. Heythere on April 30th, 2009

Leah Dizon is half white and half Filipino. I don’t see how there’s any denying that. Her mother doesn’t speak any language other than English and the same goes for her father. The girl was born in Las Vegas, you can’t get much whiter than that. This filipina French mess is pure bullshit.

  12. #12. bb on May 1st, 2009

the things you said aren’t even valid facts. only speaking english DOESN’T mean you can’t be french or chinese. and being born in las vegas DOESN’T make you white. i know leah is partly white. but when you say someone’s white, you’re talking about their RACE. i said leah’s french and that’s ETHNICITY. do you not know that FRENCH PEOPLE ARE WHITE?! by the way, she is ALSO PARTLY CHINESE. and to prove that, i suggest you to watch this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwNYZYKQE1Y

i hope people don’t need to correct you anymore.

  13. #13. Maggie on May 2nd, 2009

I agree with BB. On her official blog (ameblo.jp/leahdizon)it says filipino/chinese/french under “PROFILE” but you may need to translate it with google, and watch that video too she says it herself.

  14. #14. x1029 on May 2nd, 2009

wow……anyways i want to wish her luck…i been following this story for the longest time, and had a feeling the baby was going to be a girl(i was right). As long as she’s happy, us(the リア。デイソソfans)will be happy…:).as i try to fight away my tears of happyness and joy….i know that one day she will come back and be one of the top j-pop artists….and hopefully i will be out of college and in japan to see her concerts for my first time, and probely my last time..so anyway , for everyone who is reading this comment..i just hope you fully support in what i have to say about my idol….and her name is (LEAH DIZON) -X1029(Xiong)

  15. #15. Heythere on May 3rd, 2009

Okay BB, with that said, I guess that even though I was born in the states and am like 4th generation American, my ancestors hailed from Ukraine, Austria and Poland. Are you saying that I should tell people I’m Polish, Austrian and Ukranian? Of course not, that’s just stupid. I’m American and so is she.

  16. #16. bb on May 3rd, 2009

    OMG, you still don’t understand.
i didn’t say she’s not american. she is, but that’s NATIONALITY, not ETHNICITY.

leah’s ethnicity = chinese, filipino and french
    leah’s nationality = american

in the video, she talks about her ethnicity, not nationality.

  17. #17. pup on May 4th, 2009

What’s her babies name?? Has she said yet?

  18. #18. Yein Jee on May 4th, 2009

    pup… nope.

  19. #19. JNguyen on May 5th, 2009

congratz leah, i still find u very pretty :) hope you and your kid live well :) (Y)

  20. #20. panache on May 6th, 2009

I read somewhere that her mom isnt really french even though leah says she is. leah has been caught in a few lies on LJ

  21. #21. Fans on May 6th, 2009

Panache – That’s because her mom is NOT french, not even close.

  22. #22. Anonymous on May 12th, 2009

if leah says her mom is french, then just let it be.
so what if she’s lying…it’s her mom, not yours.
    you’re just a “fan”.

  23. #23. amused fan on May 12th, 2009

I’m amused that some fans can know more about Leah’s mother than Leah herself. Come on, are you f***king serious? Show Leah some respect if you are a real fan. If she says her mother is a French, than she is…. you don’t know any better than Leah.

  24. #24. amused fan on May 12th, 2009

Almost forgot…. Congratulations Leah!!! Take care of yourself and your baby!!!

    - from a REAL fan.

  25. #25. panache on May 14th, 2009

There is a video on youtube of her discussing her ethnicities & she doesn’t mention French at all -that is because she is a big ol’ liar & she fibs quite a bit.

  26. #26. panache on May 14th, 2009

Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwNYZYKQE1Y Someone should explain to her that caucasion is not an ethnicity, what a tard.

  27. #27. unknown on May 26th, 2009

you guys are acting like girls, tita donna is french u dicks i aint NO NUMBER 1 FAN but i know my family very well

  28. #28. Anonymous on June 5th, 2009

Caucasian: “In common use, the term is sometimes restricted to Europeans and other lighter-skinned populations within these areas, and may be considered equivalent to the varying definitions of white people.”

  29. #29. -.- on June 18th, 2009

Leah’s ma is French, but a US citizen. Her father is half Chinese and half Filipino; not just an ethnic Chinese overseas, but her paternal grandfather is actually Flip. There you go… She doesn’t have to say, “I’m French.” God.

  30. #30. hayley on June 18th, 2009

yes. French people are WHITE. SAme goes for scottish, irish, etc. They’re all WHITES. White is a race, not nationality.

  31. #31. Anonymous on June 18th, 2009

Leah is lying about being French, ok? Her mom isn’t French, Leah isn’t French & I don’t care if she states otherwise in her profile. I love arguing about Leah especially when I’m right mon cherie.

  32. #32. Lily on June 19th, 2009

I don;t think her mom is french but her dad is because she has a french last name. However the dad isn’t 1st or 2nd generation French and prolly doesn’t even speak it, so he’s just basically American.

  33. #33. bro on June 28th, 2009

p*tang~ina Leah a half flip. ganda ng mga pinoy

  34. #34. Kimm on July 20th, 2009

erm i think instead of second geussin about her parents ethnethicity why not go to wikipedia it states clearly that “Her mother is French-American, and her father is Chinese-Filipino” if it says so then it must be true. and obviously if she says so its true… who else will know better outsider like us or family member themselfs..

  35. #35. Yein Jee on July 20th, 2009

Wikipedia is written by people like you and me… good for references but not always 100% trustworthy.

  36. #36. Anonymous on July 26th, 2009

god you guys are all retards… arguing about this person…

  37. #37. kimmy on August 4th, 2009

    @ Lily:

but Lily, “Dizon” is also a popular Filipino last name. I see it sometimes on The Filipino Channel/ABS-CBN and GMA. So her dad may be Filipino while the mom is French. look up “Allen Dizon” and “Mylene Dizon” on Google.

  38. #38. kimmy on August 4th, 2009

    @ Lily again:

and also, “Dizon” isn’t French. look at this:

    http://www.ancestry.com/facts/dizon-family-history.ashx

    Dizon name meaning and History:
Filipino. variant of Spanish “Izón”, unexplained, but possibly a topographic or habitational name.

  39. #39. Paquita Mompwetmo on August 5th, 2009

Most Chinese-Filipinos changed their surname when they immigrated to the Philippines, thus their descendants last name is barely Chinese-sounding. Dy became Dyzon or Dizon, Tua became Tuazon, Sing became Singson, Qui became Quizon (as in Rodolfo Quizon aka Dolphy), Tiam became Tiamzon,

  40. #40. roflmao @ all of ya on August 15th, 2009

Dude, if Leah lied about her own race, where the fuck in the world does that leave us?

She POPPED A KID… THIS ISN’T A FORUM TO DISCUSS RACES OF MS. DIZON…

  41. #41. Anonymous on August 19th, 2009

It’s MRS. Dizon- Is this your blog? STFU

  42. #42. lmfao on September 1st, 2009

Uhh no, it’s Ms.! Her father is Mr. Dizon… dude, get your facts straight, bitch

  43. #43. Anonymous on September 5th, 2009

She is MARRIED so it’s MRS. Mrs. is a form of address for a married woman-stupid kid.

  44. #44. Anonymous on September 5th, 2009

& to add I don’t know what her husband’s last name is but I imagine she has taken his last name but still uses her maiden name for her career.

  45. #45. random passingby on September 13th, 2009

anon, you obv. don’t know the convention. even if she’s married, she would be a ‘ms.’. my ma’s a heng and she didn’t want my dad’s name so she’s still ms. heng

tbh there’s a lot of controversy (gov says mrs. and ms. are both wrong for a married woman who kept her old surname) and i don’t think it matters, she’s like new jessica alba anyhow

  46. #46. random passingby 2 on September 13th, 2009

and anyway i don’t see how the blog announcing that leah had a baby has anything in the world to do with her race or her surname… but it’s clear the op loves the attention

  47. #47. kimmi on September 15th, 2009

her career is finished good riddance hoe

  48. #48. Anonymous on September 15th, 2009

I’m married so yes I know how it works- & don’t insult Jessica Alba by comparing Leah to her.

  49. #49. roflmao on September 16th, 2009

Leah Dizon is nothing like Alba… at least Alba has had a few parts in movies and whatnot. Leah Dizon doesn’t really have anything going anymore except for cosmetics and her modeling photoshoots. What is she even doing now? Hasn’t sang any songs or put anything else out for a year now.

  50. #50. Unknown To Few Important to Plenty on September 21st, 2009

You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  51. #51. Kimmi on September 21st, 2009

    Oh boo-hoo

  52. #52. Luis on September 27th, 2009

well…. I only want to see her baby

  53. #53. roflmao on September 28th, 2009

I gotta love how these Asian stars hamper and hide their children. There’s about two photos of Namie Amuro’s now eleven year old son, Haruto, floating around. Leah only gives us this:

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QM2-6hVKZbQ/Si5wbTc2JaI/AAAAAAAABxo/kNX4DX9nhLk/s320/leahdizon_baby1.jpg

  54. #54. Yein Jee on September 28th, 2009

It also shows different level of paparazzi aggressiveness; the Asians do show a bit more mercy when it comes to kids.

  55. #55. roflmao on September 30th, 2009

Yein Jee, I agree. If Namie and Leah were in USA, papparazzi would snatch them. Then again, I’m not sure how Amuro, Dizon, and Tsuchiya feel about their children — seems like almost every young Asian star who popped was on a pure unplanned unpregnancy, but they have to deal with it now.

Also, interesting choice for her baby name (I had expected Leah would pick something much wilder, like Pilot Inspektor or Zuma), but how in the world do we pronounce it? MY-La or ME-La? Everyone I know told me they’re 99.5% sure it’s the latter, but when I first saw it, I thought it was the former (as in, feminine version of Milo).

  56. #56. Yein Jee on September 30th, 2009

Me-la. I think native English speakers (I assume you are?) might be a bit confused with the pronunciation, but it’s pretty straight forward for Asians and others.

According to some baby-name websites, Mila is a Greek word which means Friendly, Soft, Pleasant.

    http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Mila.html

  57. #57. roflmao on September 30th, 2009

Actually, I am a Chinese girl and Cantonese Chinese — not Mandarin or English, although I now speak both fluently, including reading and writing — is my first language. I’ve noticed that except for UK and US, even Italian would use “Me” and not “My” (ex. Mi Piace).

I did look up the name meaning and it is a feminine form of Milo; “miracles, pleasant, favored”. In Kanji, Dizon already translated it to “Mira” (Japanese lacks ‘L’ so everything is replaced with ‘R’) which happens to be very similar to Chinese “Meilan” (”beautiful, fragrant orchid”). She did pretty well considering celebrities and their crazy names these days, but my sister thought it was “Sky [Tsuchiya's son] is nice, but Mila? Too bland”.

Anyway, I see you’re in Malaysia? My mom has family who emigrated there, near Kota Kinabalu in Eastern Malaysia. Take care.
