Actually, I am a Chinese girl and Cantonese Chinese — not Mandarin or English, although I now speak both fluently, including reading and writing — is my first language. I’ve noticed that except for UK and US, even Italian would use “Me” and not “My” (ex. Mi Piace).

I did look up the name meaning and it is a feminine form of Milo; “miracles, pleasant, favored”. In Kanji, Dizon already translated it to “Mira” (Japanese lacks ‘L’ so everything is replaced with ‘R’) which happens to be very similar to Chinese “Meilan” (”beautiful, fragrant orchid”). She did pretty well considering celebrities and their crazy names these days, but my sister thought it was “Sky [Tsuchiya's son] is nice, but Mila? Too bland”.

Anyway, I see you’re in Malaysia? My mom has family who emigrated there, near Kota Kinabalu in Eastern Malaysia. Take care.

Me-la. I think native English speakers (I assume you are?) might be a bit confused with the pronunciation, but it’s pretty straight forward for Asians and others.

According to some baby-name websites, Mila is a Greek word which means Friendly, Soft, Pleasant.

Yein Jee, I agree. If Namie and Leah were in USA, papparazzi would snatch them. Then again, I’m not sure how Amuro, Dizon, and Tsuchiya feel about their children — seems like almost every young Asian star who popped was on a pure unplanned unpregnancy, but they have to deal with it now.

Also, interesting choice for her baby name (I had expected Leah would pick something much wilder, like Pilot Inspektor or Zuma), but how in the world do we pronounce it? MY-La or ME-La? Everyone I know told me they’re 99.5% sure it’s the latter, but when I first saw it, I thought it was the former (as in, feminine version of Milo).

Leah Dizon is nothing like Alba… at least Alba has had a few parts in movies and whatnot. Leah Dizon doesn’t really have anything going anymore except for cosmetics and her modeling photoshoots. What is she even doing now? Hasn’t sang any songs or put anything else out for a year now.

tbh there’s a lot of controversy (gov says mrs. and ms. are both wrong for a married woman who kept her old surname) and i don’t think it matters, she’s like new jessica alba anyhow
