Controversial nude nurse picture in TaiwanA cosmetic surgery clinic in Tainan City, Taiwan, is suspended by authorities for using its nurses’ nude images to promote the business.

The clinic was using the nude images on its website and a giant billboard, as well as distributing the pictures to media and customers before the campaign was halted by authorities.

The clinic defended that they were merely helping the three (naked) nurses to find ideal lovers, but authorities are not buying the excuse and initiated investigations after receiving complaints from nurses’ associations.

The clinic and the nurses were initially investigated by the police for fraudulent and pimping, but are cleared off from those charges. The clinic is however closed by the Department of Health for illegal advertising which broke the law of medical services.

Officials said that although the clinic is not paying to appear on media, the use of unnecessary nudity was an obvious viral-marketing attempt to get media exposure, and thus considered as a form of advertisement.

The clinic is expected to be fined up to NTD250,000 (USD7500) but should be allowed to reopen after a short suspension period.

PS: I am not sure if it’s applicable to all countries, but it’s forbidden in lots of places to publicly promote professional services like medical and legal firms etc.

In the US, medical and legal firms advertise on billboards, TV or in whatever medium. But I haven’t seen any of them done nude, lol. But I’m not sure that I agree that a cosmetic surgery clinic should really be classified as medical in the same sense as a doctor office or hospital either.

Anyway, on the issue of marketing using unnecessary nudity, well that could be said of unnecessary partial nudity too imo. Look at all the beauty products and clothing commercials that depict half dressed or less women. It’s all unnecessary in the context of selling a product, but like they say, “sex sells” lol

By the way, that’s a hot looking body on that girl in the pic. :)

What……now we can’t be seen naked any more? How about topless? Don’t take away all our fun.

Oh I know a surefire way for them to gain attention for their comeback. How about changing their name to ‘I LOVE PLASTIC SURGERY DERMATOLOGY’ instead? This is a real name of a Korean cosmetic surgery clinic btw.
