Paperclips dancing under the influence of electromagnetic field on the floor of a Kobe train in Japan; the effect is produced by the electric current that drives the motors located under the floor…

Although harmless to human body, the magnetic field could damage electronic devices left on the floor. The train company is installing extra shielding on these trains as countermeasures for the issue.

Actually, it hasn’t been established definitly whether magnetic fields are not harmful to humans. While short time exposure is relatively regarded as harmless, longer term exposure or exposure on a regular basis to magnetic currents ‘could possibly’ be harmful to cells in the brain, based on studies with rats. But nothing definite has been determined either way.
