Korean pop star Rain and his former employee JYP Entertainment have made an appeal to overturn the Hawaiian court verdict in which they were ordered to pay USD8.1 million to a Honolulu based promoter for cancelling a concert in June 2007.
Their legal team is sending in evidences that the concert venue in Hawaii was unsafe for performance; it’s said that the equipments were not properly installed and the stage was in danger of collapsing. Sounds like a reasonable reason to cancel the show; but I wonder why they didn’t show those ‘evidences’ at the first place.
Meanwhile, Rain and JYPE are facing another lawsuit in South Korea. StarM, the Korean promoter for Rain’s world tour has filed a lawsuit seeking 4.5 billion Korean Won (USD3.4 million) of compensation from the party for cancelling 16 out of the 35 scheduled concerts (including the Hawaiian one) for the world tour.
Most of the US concerts were cancelled mainly because of a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Rain Corporation which runs a Beatles tribute show (known as RAIN) across the States. StarM claimed that they weren’t informed on time by JYPE about the lawsuit which led to the concert cancellations and financial damages.
Ironically JYPE has always been blaming the incapability of StarM for causing all the messes. Unfortunately for Rain, despite his claims that he was not directly involved with the cancellations, will have to bear with the possible consequences once again.
And it’s not the end of the story; some promoters from US and Canada could be seeking legal action, particularly the one from Los Angeles where the concert was cancelled just hours before the show. Those peeps are probably still thinking on how to hand the legal papers to Rain to bring him to court.
Lesson of the day… be careful with who you are associated with.

r they using the same lawyers for appeal? haven’t they learn that their lawyers were craps? and why is rain still teaming up with jyp? if he claims he is not involved directly with the concert cancellation, he should work alone for the case. if he use the same lawyers with jyp, he shows that he was responsible for all the decisions his ex-boss made for the cancellation.
it has also been reported that Rain has indeed submitted a request for separation from JYP. they have together filed for a new trial, but Rain has also made a request to separate and has obtained one of the best lawyers, i think. this time there is the knowledge of international law experience.
but also on the Hawaii court docket is a request from JYP to have the new trial jointly, (in other words he is contesting Rain’s request)
i saw a document that list StarM on the courts findings in Nevada concerning the name issue. that was cleared up on June 15th and StarM new about it.
the LA concert was scheduled for June 30th. StarM promosed to re-schedule those concerts and never did. WHY (more to the story, than meets the eys)
and really, just how much do you think Rain was to know about the business, d**n he was only what 24/25, what 3 yrs performing???. these promoters have been around long before there ever was a Rain. and now all of a sudden they get stupid and don’t know how to handle concerts, PLEASE. how dumb do they think the public is. this kind of stuff happens in US all the time angencies taking advantage of their entertainers. the difference here is that Korea allows agencies to have total control of the artiste. making decisions without their knowledge or input.with a little thought and a look at the bigger picture, anybody can see who is at fault. just locate Revolution and the $500,000. FOLLOW THE MONEY PEOPLE. if Rain’s signature is on any contract it’s just an acknowledgement that he would perform, no more, no less. i think ALL of those agecies should be investigated. and stop all this Your the Blame, He’s to blame.
and why not start focusing more articles on these agencies buy reporting that JYP, StarM, Revolution and Click have Rain caught up in concert cancellations.
everybody surrounding Rain, putting him out front, when all the time they are working in the background pulling the strings. and now too COWARD to admit to their guilt.
