SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM Entertainment Global Audition 2009

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.

[update] USA & Canada audition announced; no news on other places.

Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27/28 – Korea Village, New York

Refer to SM Entertainment’s official website for more details. Also check out JYPE audition and Avex audition which are running in Oct/Nov in US and Canada.

Audition preparation for SMe

1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.

any information for the international schedule?

  6. #186. leyla on May 19th, 2009

    hey ppl its mee again!
    @andrew
i personally dont think that the judges would mind if u have braces
if u have good voice and ur talented then it doesnt matter anyway
so who cares.. but im sure they will pimp ur outta appearance somehow
i mean in this showbiz its all about looks and if u look good
and are talented then u got more or less best chances to make it thru this biz
of course u also need to be lucky but anyways..

i will try out this summer after school is out
maybe we can rly do it ! lets all give it a try ppl! <3

    To Leyla
    Thanks
But I might audition for acting, and after I audition, how will I know the results? Will they call, what if I don’t get a call?

I might audition for singing, dancing, and acting, and for results, will they call me and say, I failed at singing and dancing, but succedded at acting? If Yes, what will I do?

  8. #188. ally on May 20th, 2009

erm how come yein jee isnt commenting?

  9. #189. Yein Jee on May 20th, 2009

    ally… hmmm, what’s new?

Andrew… make up your mind. What are you good at?

leyla… 18 is not too late for showbiz, but SM does seem to favour younger age in recent years. What are the chance? Can’t tell, only SM’s reps can.

  10. #190. lien on May 20th, 2009

hw come i cant c the page for the sm town in eng version?? i cant understand in korean…

  11. #191. Andrew on May 21st, 2009

    To leyla,

All I can do good is acting. But if i get chosen from sm cuz i did really good at acting, what wil they do to me?

  12. #192. 알랙쓰 on May 21st, 2009

    Hey,

so im korean born in US and i wanna audition mainly for singing and possibly for dancing.
    So hypothetically speaking,
say there was a 17 year old korean guy that was 6′4, 190 lbs, and had a six pack, and this guy isnt like 꽂보다 남자 but didnt look half bad, and had singing capability because he was born with perfect pitch and has a smooth tone of voice but has no professional experience and therefore does not have certain elements like vibrato but still has many years of musical experience regarding technique and theory because of piano and saxophone and this guy has all the fundamentals of popping, tektonik, and breakdancing… This is all hypothetical of course.
If you were a really strict SM representative, would you accept this guy?

  13. #193. Yein Jee on May 21st, 2009

알랙쓰… hypothetically, there’s a good chance. Try getting a few honest opinions from your friends on how good you really are.

As we can see from some reality shows, i.e. American Idol etc…. some people often overestimated their talent. But then, there’s always a few gems; I hope some of you here are showing that potential and could make it in the SM audition when it comes to town.

  14. #194. Julie on May 23rd, 2009

If you pass, they’ll email you more information about the next audition within 3 months, by then if you don’t get an email, then you didn’t pass.

  15. #195. 알랙쓰 on May 26th, 2009

Okay, so my parents are considering sending me to korea over summer break to visit grandparents. If i walk around Seoul all day for a few days and i have all the characteristics of the hypothetical guy i mentioned before, chance to be street casted?

  16. #196. Yein Jee on May 26th, 2009

    Julie… thanks for the note.

알랙쓰… instead of walking around the streets, just walk into SM’s office directly. They have weekly audition in Seoul on every Saturday…

  19. #199. summerfall on May 29th, 2009

I’ve submitted the needed informations last may 18.. and on may 19 I received what “RYU” also had.. I think it’s a automatic reply.. and now they are making me wait for about a month.. a week has passed.. I wish they would email me right back..(even a rejection reply is fine) because this is really stressing me out!! can someone tell me how will the rejection letter would look like? haha^^ and what happened to RYU??

  20. #200. Lee on June 1st, 2009

Hi, i don’t know if anyone has asked this question before, but I’m in the UK and I REALLY want to audition, but they don’t do it here, obviously. So can I email them a video or something? Do they have an English version of the homepage?
