SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.
[update] USA & Canada audition announced; no news on other places.
Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27/28 – Korea Village, New York
Refer to SM Entertainment’s official website for more details. Also check out JYPE audition and Avex audition which are running in Oct/Nov in US and Canada.
1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.
2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)
3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.
4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)
5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

hey yein jee!
did you know your name sounds korean
(thats a good thing) =]
lol
Lee… the link provided in the above article is directed towards their English homepage. And your question is asked before… long story, please read through the comments to find the clues.
ally… yeah, knew that. Not only does it sounds Korean, it doesn’t sound Chinese in contrary.
okay, i found some people at my school who have pretty good dancing/singing skills. we’re going to do some dancing w/ live singing for a school talent show. would it be acceptable to just send SM a high quality video of our performance? and say we get the performance perfectly (like idk, flawless imitation of 비). would SM accept us as a group, or as individual performers?
oh, and we are planning to go all out on this. we are getting a private dance room to practice like 5 hours a day over summer break and a minor recording studio thingy for singing practice. Any tips from the more experienced people out there on what techniques to practice?
Okay, thank you. Wow…you have a lot of comments as a blogger :) took me a while to find the answer! Thanks anyway. Oh – you are Chinese? Xie xie :)
알랙쓰… you’ll have to ask SM for clarifications. Personally I believe they preferred individual performers rather than a group, regardless of how flawless you all are.
Lee… you’re welcome.
I know everything…….but the pics.
About the photos, (SCANNED ONLY) It doesn’t matter if the photos from my digital camera? or does it?B/c I have no F’in photos that can be scanned, only from my camera. And i was wondering, is it ok to send it.
Ta… you’ll have to ask SM for an absolute confirmation. I think it should be fine as long as the photo is clear, from a proper camera and not a mobile phone pic.
yein jee, can u just tell me what to prepare if i want to be a lyricist for sm?? can u?
What I know for lyricist is from SM’s website itself, nothing more.
are the auditions by email still open?
if they aren’t, when will they open?
and i’m fluent in korean and english, but i have an accent in korean. is that okay?
sorry, i have alot of questions. :P
The email audition is for US folks at the first place; just that it’s the only option for people that are not from Korea and US at the moment… can’t tell it’s workable or not. That being said, it’s still opened.
Don’t worry about the language.
and i’m moving to texas in 3 weeks, which address do i submit?
and on the video, should i just dress casually?
and is there a time limit on the video?
and do you start by saying your name, age and the song you’re singing, or just start singing?
sorry, lots of questions. :P
I don’t have answers for that. Check SM’s website for details, and email them if necessary.
where would i email to?
sorry!
oh, never mind, i found it. :D
thanks anyhow.
i feel so stupid.
if i am not in korea can i still join the audition ??? and would SM entertainment allow my friend and I to join in the audition as a group ??? or must it be individual ????
hey yein jee~~
are you 100% chinese?
Do both weekly and global auditions let you sing and then freestlye dance afterwards? I heard that sometimes you have to choose to either be a singer or dancer.
Also, say a person becomes a trainee. how is it decided whether that person will solo or become part of a group?
