SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.
SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.

Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver

1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.
2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)
3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.
4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)
5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

to felice: well of course they would put more attention into choosing people in the global auditions. they wouldnt want to pay thousands of dollars on people you can find at eh weekly auditions. im still beggin my mum to let me go. :( so sad.

You will know your result in about 3 weeks. If they don’t… a rejection letter will come. Sometimes they’ll call Back within one day to two weeks. They usually want you to go back and sing or model for them. It still doesn’t mean you’re in

Actually I only prepared “before he cheats” then the judges ASKED me to sing another… Then another lead to another until I sang a total of 4 songs…
I danced, but u don’t have too, u can jus move to the beat…

Well, ill let you know from my personal experience…
If there’s a lot of other contestants, you’ll have a time limit of 30 seconds. But if you’ve caught their attention, they let you continue. Or they’ll ask for more… However they might stop u whenever they feel…
If there aren’t many contestants then you basically have all the time in the world…
As for me, I had about 15 to 30 minutes… There was a lot of singing, questioning&answering, & commenting going on… Then the rhythem check… Its basically when they turn on a random song & u dnt have to neccessary dance to it, just move or bounce to the music…
SO I CONFIRM SNOOPY THEORY DIDN’T MATCH WITH THE TRUE…I THINK THAT WEEKLY AUDITION BETTER FOR YOU CAUSE ..IF THERE ARE NONE CONTESTANT THEN YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME THAT YOU CAN SHOW YOUR SKILL!!! IF THEY LIKE YOU ..IF THEY LIKE AT LEAST…
it’s from global experience:
you fill out an entertainer’s resume for SM TOWN [experience, schooling, age, previous auditions, extra talents, what you're trying out for, what race you are, what languages you can speak, etc], and then they give you your own number sticker. After that, they call a group of about 10 people into a designated room and you stand in a line at about 5 at a time. Since we were cool with one of the audition 언니’s & we were the first 10 to arrive at the audition, we got to go first. I was in the first five to perform, and basically you just state your name and then sing a song. [You're also being recorded on a camera the entire time] If they like you, they’ll ask you to sing another song and even conversate with you. (They asked me to sing another song for them; some girls weren’t even asked) Then near the end of the audition, they turn on some music from a boombox and ask you to dance. You don’t have to, but you have the choice. The judges are intimidating and critical as F**K; they’re even worse then American Idol.

to sea: oh dear…where do you live?? if you live nearby just go with you friends …u don’t need to ask your parents ….just go..choose song ..and try…= experienced you never forget….and then you’ll probably want to try again…and the next time i think you will have dubbel confident….
OKAY 1 MORE ANSWER ABOUT WEEKLY AND GLOBAL…IN WEEKLY THE JUDGE NEED TO SEND ALL THE DATA TO KOREA …AND THAT’S WHY YOU NEED TO W8 LONGER FOR YOU RESULT…BUT IN GLOBAL ..THEY ARE PEOPLE FROM KOREA …SO THEY CAN JUDGE FASTER..AND DON’T NEED TO SEND THE DATA TO KOREA…THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE ABOUT BOTH AUDITION!

there’s smth i m confuse abt..isnt’t there a weekly audition at korea also? so the toronto and all the weekly usa auditions/global auditions are just for convenience?it doesnt mean ppl nt living in korea cnt audition at evrysing right?
to sea: well for the weekly auditions. everyone and anyone can audition. but personally i think they pay less attention to you unless ur super amazing.

to sea: yes there’s weekly audition in korea…and look once you audition you will have to w8 a month at least for bad/good news…no you can’t audition all the time ..before you get response…

Oh yeah and also some words of wisdom for dancers hahaha
When auditioning never look at the ground always keep your eyes on the judges or crowd only exception for that is if the dance move requires you to look away and also your facial expressions you have to have expressions or you’re just going to look boring or dead. And one more pointer is to breathe or your performace will look lopsided like have a sick beginning then just die at the end
