SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.
[update] USA & Canada audition announced; no news on other places.
Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27/28 – Korea Village, New York
Refer to SM Entertainment’s official website for more details. Also check out JYPE audition and Avex audition which are running in Oct/Nov in US and Canada.
1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.
2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)
3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.
4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)
5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

felice… in internet era the age different ain’t so obvious, maybe I would sound a bit grumpier when I hit 40, won’t know yet lol.
I didn’t do much really, thanks to everyone who have shared their input instead. It’s you folks that keep the discussion alive.
Each year there are people coming in and out to talk about the audition; in fact months from now all of you should be getting on with your lives and never come here again. That’s just how it goes.
Would be nice to hear if a few actually succeed in the audition though :)
Hi I was wondering if you had to sign up before online or is it just a walk in sign up like the USA one?
And what is the time (in LA) for the audition?
Thank you
YEA IM ABACK AGAIN…. HOT NEWS..UNBELIEVABLE…SHOCKING NEWS..BEHIND THE SCENE:/!!!
http://kjpopbands.blogspot.com/2009/10/news-isak-on-korean-idol-world-mentions.html
rio: it’s not shocking..a lot of ppl alreadly knew abt tis bt still they want to achieve their dreams so..yea..bt maybe things will get better when u starts to debut and gain fame..cos fans will mostly complain and bla bla..like for example..some of the members of suju went to jeju on thier own to celebratae chunseok which means they still hav that little ”privacy and freedom” (ok i jus want to mention the fact that they went to jeju w/o planning anything LOL)
LuLu… just check the official website link and you’ll get answer to what you are asking about.
Rio… I agree with sea; it’s not shocking indeed. And the celebs did know what kind of contracts they were into before signing it.
Things have changed a bit though; last year the broadcast committee (or not-sure-what authority) has ordered some unfair contract terms to be reviewed.
Bottomline is the companies are not allowed to interfere the artists’ private life anymore, at least not contract binding. But I guess most young artists would follow verbal orders anyway to secure a better future.
There’s still no regulations against the contract length and profit sharing though; so the TVXQ contract dispute case is likely to set a precedent no matter how it goes.
[edited by YeinJee: Rio, as much as I appreciate your contribution, this is not a place for affiliate marketing ok?]

to cammy: omg good luck with ur audition. ur lucky u live so close. i wish they would come over to australia.
hi.. I’m planning to audition as a model however my only concern is my age. I’m 24 years old and I feel like I’m too old to audition.
I know it states on the poster that there is NO age limit but I’m still curioused if they would take a 24 year old as a trainee.
to cammy: goodluck cammy!! go for it girl!
to april: hi april, not sure about that.. try looking it up on google. garageband app for windows something like that..not sure..hehe
Good luck cammy!
Anonymous… honestly, it’s a disadvantage, but for modelling probably not too old yet. No harm trying if you are staying in the region.
to sassy unnie: okay i’ll look it up thanks anyway! ^_^ mwah!
to cammy: good luck to ya!!
