SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.
[update] USA & Canada audition announced; no news on other places.
Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27/28 – Korea Village, New York
Refer to SM Entertainment’s official website for more details. Also check out JYPE audition and Avex audition which are running in Oct/Nov in US and Canada.
1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.
2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)
3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.
4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)
5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

Problem is if they don’t think you are good enough in one song (or maybe two), they will probably ask you to stop.
It’s about your voice; if your voice is good you can sing any song… and all you need is that one or two chances.
to junior. Do u mind if I ask what your nationality is?
k thanks.
also, what if u can sing and want to show them that u can dance too?
thanks.
do the talent scout people or whoever looks at all the email registerations? do they like write your name down somewhere for you to like check or something at the live audition? or is it a way to see what kind of people are going and around how many?
and i’m practising You Raise Me Up and probably Starlight Tears and I’ll Be There (tvxq, not mj). is it okay if i dont have like much emotions? cuz i’ve never been in love so i dont know what it feels like.
is it okay if your filipino? i mean technically we’re still asian. ^_^
&& omfg. im going to new york around that time….. ahh. i think i’ll audition next year. i need more preparation… lol :D
hi..all..who have been go to an audition to sm entertainment?
can tell me how they do to you when you sing or dance or anything else?
are they arrogant and give the hard comment?can tell me?
To anonymous
I’m full Filipino, why do you ask
i’m Mongolian…
yein jee:but i heard sm will take audition in china ,
plans to extend the audition to china, japan, south east asia, usa, canada ,etc *____-
Jenny… you’ll have to email SM to ask that.
felice… email registration is for registration, that’s it.
It’s not ok to sing without emotions. Think about your family instead… that’s love as well.
I’ve said quite a number of times that talent is just part of the things that talent scouts are looking for… charisma is always an important factor. Practise with your mirror, find your best smile and learn to smile comfortably. Stay calm and cool and show plenty of confidence.
kat… I’m not sure; their website does state that you need to be staying around that area.
fatin… well, my friends were there a few years ago (in KL, 2006 if not mistaken). They called a group of people inside, gave each of them 15-30 seconds to show what they got, and that’s it. You need to show your best as soon as you can.
Note that it’s not just a talent search, but also a public relation event to spread the company’s (and their artists’) image and influence. Do you think they’ll be nice or arrogant?
Pan… Mongolia, nice :)
A plan is a plan and until it’s finalised it’s still a plan. Don’t put too much hope on what they said.
Just wondering. I had a crazy though that maybe the reason why they haven’t replied to my application yet is because of my nationality hehe… I know, I know its lame.
ha?~ 15-30 seconds?that’s all?wow..so short..thanks yeinjee..
k thanks.
and do we have to sing the whole song?
How do we contact sm before the auditions?
anon… it’s not entirely crazy thought. Nationality is probably not the issue, but their website does state that people need to reside in those areas, and seems like they are serious about it.
fatin… well, maybe a bit longer, but it’s not likely that you are going to finish a song.
Jenny… check their website for emails and details.
ahhh. the audition is in 24 days!! lol. im quite nervous already. im trying to memorize my songs. hm..
so now that we’ve got a new wave of people coming? anybody planning to go to the live audition?
Whos going to go to the New york auditions on friday??
and how many ither people do you usually go in the room with?
aww… why dont they have it in malaysia… =(
somebody told me that all of snsd members have had ps. is that true?
to felice: that is not true. mayb one or two of them have had it but not all.
