SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.

Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver

Auditions were great! A lot of people were there I’d say about 300 or more :)
Pixel: what number were you? I was 90 ^^
Julie… how about burning your file into CD and send it by mail instead?
Bear… print it and bring it, just in case.
kim… it’s the correct email. Not sure what happen, but do note that you can still register on the spot without the email confirmation.
pixel & Hitomi… glad to see people having fun, hope you folks did well there :)
yay im back from LA auditions! i think i did okay but people who watched me gave me a big cheer so hopefully i did better than i think i did :).
BIG QUESTION: so what now? do i wait for a call? do i wait for mail? :/ i was so dumb i didnt even ask HAHHA.
and MY EXPERIENCE:
mm so it didn’t feel like THAT much waiting. no point going earlier that 1pm/opening time though, in my case. cause ppl outside weren’t even in a line and going early does not mean getting in early. in the contrary. ppl who signed up through email and actually have a 1-2pm time got in the earliest. i was walk-in and was there since 12:30 but i’m #65. and i was done at around 3:30.
mm advice. if you really really prepared for two things, and are very very sure they would love both of them, ask to perform both of them. chances are they are running out of time and they will make you pick one, but from the group i watched, it seems like if they liked your first performance, they’ll let you do yr 2nd one. ONLY if the second performance you’re doing is really going to make you shine though. there was a guy whose dance was just bleh but he asked to sing AND dance and the judges didnt look too happy watching his dance.
ok. so that was my experience. time to eat fatty greasy food until they call/mail or whatever they’d do to reject me :/
Hitomi: I was number 12, one of the first ones.
to hitomi and pixel: what did you guys/girls audition for? And how much time did they give you? Did they want you to introduce yourself? Or just do your thing and go lol
and iceboxx sorry :/
Bear:): I auditioned for modeling, they only really let you audition for one thing, if people did two its probably because they begged or something I’m not sure, everyone that I went in with did one thing, you go in, say what you are doing and do it, they don’t ask for your names, just what your doing. I’d say they give you around 30 seconds then they tell you to stop, otherwise they let you keep going if your doing good. There is about 20 people that watch you and 4 judges. When your group of 10 finishes you dance to freestyle.
Bear:): I auditioned for singing. It’s basically like what hitomi said, but for our group, we had to say our name and what we were auditioning for. For singing, the judges told us that we only have to sing the chorus. If they like you, they tell you to do a second thing, but there were a lot of people who did well, so it just comes down to whether or not the judge likes you.
to hitomi: who are the 20 people that watch you? staff? and there’s a cameraman too right? was anyone asked to stay after? and what time did you get there?
sorry for all the questions ha ha ha. thanks in advance :D
i auditioned for dancing. haha cool, pixel and hitomi, we all did different things.
they asked me to stop at around 50 secs. i noticed dancers usually get a little bit more time. at least all the dancers in my group of 10 got a bit more time than the singers.
spring water: the 20 ppl are the 10 in your group, and the 10 auditionees from the next group who will be sitting in chairs in the same room. one girl in my group got asked to stay after to talk about her previous experience with the dance industry. one of the 4 judges was operating the camera.
hitomi and pixel: do you know if we’re suppose to wait by the phone tonight? or how does it work?
Spring water: 2 groups of 10 go in, 1st group stands in a line and do their thing, and the 2nd groups sits down and watch the 1st group, when 1st group finishes they leave, 2nd group goes up, and next group come in to watch, room was really small imo, 4 judges and the judges are the ones filming you too, 2 girls 2 guys judges (fyi: they’re young) , they speak perfect english. Since I came from FL I stayed in the hotel, so I kinda was there since the night before but I didn’t wait till around 12:00 and finished around 3:00 (#90)
Iceboxx: they said the results will be e-mail to you within the next month (december)
oh okay thanks [:
and also..do you know what song they played for the rhythm test?
hitomi, iceboxx, pixel: thanks for the infos. was there a lot of people? or you werent really paying attention cuz you seemed to be the early ones.
about the registeration thing: this guy in my class is also planning to audition and he registered online about 5 days after i did mine. but his time slot is around 4 ish and mine’s at 6. how is that? cuz i think he also applied for singing. does that mean sm just randomly pick a time?
about the audition: so you just go in and try out. does the judges say anything? like stop you harshly if you’re really bad or like praise you if you’re good? or they just decide on their own and then contact you within like a month or something?
anybody going to the toronto audition?
Spring water: I forgot sorry, I didn’t dance though :P
sorry for the many many questions.
good luck!
thank! there was alot of people today…-.- like 300 people.. i didnt get to register..it will take forever to be my turn.. … but i send a video.. when do u guys think that the result will be out???
spring water: it was disturbia by rihanna. the staff said it was the same song for all the groups that day.
felice: they didnt say anything about doing good or bad, it was mainly telling you what to do. they all seemed really nice. :)
to hitomi: oh, it’s okay [: you modeled right? :D
to iceboxx: do you know if they played it from the beginning or not? ha ha thanks [:
Spring water: yes I auditioned for modeling, but the moment I was up there I was so nervous I forgot all my poses, and had to make up stuff on the spot :D I think I forgot to smile, iuno
