SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.

SM Entertainment Global Audition 2009

SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.

[update] USA & Canada audition announced; no news on other places.

Nov 15 – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27/28 – Korea Village, New York

Refer to SM Entertainment’s official website for more details. Also check out JYPE audition and Avex audition which are running in Oct/Nov in US and Canada.

Audition preparation for SMe

1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.

2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)

3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.

4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)

5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

Sure they do, but onlii for the Global auditions. In SM U.S Entertainment they said that nationality, doesn’t matter

ic, thanks for the note Hime, didn’t realise that… but I think they are looking for Asian faces primarily just like the global audition.

No prob, u probably didn’t notice cuz I started October 2008

  5. #145. A.Kyoung on April 29th, 2009

What if you are half asian? Because normally every stranger I talk to assumes that I’m fully korean. I mean…my asian features are purely dominant….though I am slightly tan…Can I still audition?

  6. #146. A.Kyoung on April 29th, 2009

…..Also I am half korean half black….thats where the tan comes from…

  7. #147. Yein Jee on April 29th, 2009

Kyoung… you’ll have to ask SM for confirmation. Personally I think they won’t mind.

    to a.kyoung:
    i knoe how u feel
im chinese right and cuz australia’s really sunny,
    im like so tann=]

also, yeinjee, if they want u to audition live, but u cant go to korea, what happens??

  9. #149. Yein Jee on April 29th, 2009

ally… I think we have talked about this before.

If you are really really good, say if you can sing like Celine Dion or look like Angelina Jolie… they will come and get you.

If not, it’s either giving up on this dream or find a way to go to Korea (or other audition locations).

  10. #150. Kyon on April 30th, 2009

Could you still audition if you are half-asian?

  11. #151. Hime~ on April 30th, 2009

Will they notify u that u DIDN’T make it?

  12. #152. Yein Jee on April 30th, 2009

    Kyon… read comment #145, 147.

  18. #158. Yein Jee on May 2nd, 2009

“all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age”… that explains everything ain’t so?

  19. #159. Hime~ on May 3rd, 2009

When Do all these auditions end?

  20. #160. Yein Jee on May 3rd, 2009

It hasn’t even begun yet; some of you folks have been a bit over-hyped… the global audition is still limited in Korea and the international schedule has yet to be announced.

With the economic recession now, SM might just scrap their plan… we wouldn’t know until they make the updates on their schedules.
