SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest talent management agencies, is kicking off its 09′ global audition on February 14th in its home ground, with plans to extend the audition to China, Japan, South East Asia, Canada and USA etc.
SM is looking for various talents in singing, acting, dancing, modelling etc. It’s said that all Asians are welcome regardless of nationality and age… but I doubt they would want a 40-year-old veteran lol.

1. Singer – prepare 1 or 2 songs which you can sing without accompaniment. Please make sure that you are confident in your song selection and that the song fits best to your voice.
2. Dancer – Free Style Dancing, CD to be submitted to the reception desk on the audition date by the applicant. (If you do not bring any CD for dance, random music will be played.)
3. Actor – Impromptu Acting, memorized monologue to be prepared by applicant.
4. Model – Free posing. (5 or more)
5. Producer/Composer (Writer) – Producer/Composer (Writer) Demo CD or written music to be brought by the applicant.

I was just wondering because I was thinking of auditioning for modelling as well but I think my height is an issue
I’m going to send in a video of myself playing piano for the specialty part.
Would they want to hear a song that really shows your skills, like a classical, or a modern day pop (or any other genre) song?.
Which would they rather hear?
felice… this SM post was made much earlier than JYP’s. Obviously people tend to discuss the basic audition stuff here, and sometimes JYP’s stuff here as well.
Perhaps it also shows that SM’s audition attracts a bit more attention than others?
Julie… they’ll probably take piano as a bonus instead of the main focus. So, as long as you can play better than a 5th grader, any song should do. Besides, different people will have different taste, we can’t tell for sure what they would like.

Question: How tall are the models that typically go in? What do they weigh? I assume you have to be pretty skinny to even have a chance?

so we dont get the results right after we audition, you know, like american idol or something they get their ‘golden ticket’ or whatever right after. so they deliberate amongst themselves for a month? then contact you if you’re in?
All results will be e-mailed to the person in the month of December, only if you make it though.

bl: I’m only 5′5″ when i auditioned for model, can’t be exact but I will say that everyone there was around my height 5′6″ or 5′4″

another question… what exactly does free posing mean? you just hit a couple of poses as if you were in a photoshoot? (so it might look kind of awkward ?)
bl: I wore jeans, boots, and a long sleeve shirt, and free posing means u just do poses like u were in a photo shoot, they should all be different, don’t worry about making them transition from one pose to another, because they will tell u, “pose 1″ and u do 1, “pose 2″ u do 2, etc
