SPEED, arguably the most popular Japanese all-girls pop group in late 90s, is officially back with their 16th single, “S.P.D” on May 27 after years of hiatus. Some promotional images below… [MV was deleted from Youtube unfortunately]

The quartet was disbanded in 2000 at their heyday; they did reunite for some short projects during the interval, and are back for serious biz this time.

The song is just ok imo, but their vocals have definitely improved. The single is doing well on sales chart, hitting top 10 since its release; not a surprise considering how huge they used to be.

Felt a bit odd though; it seems like SPEED has been gone for ages… yet the youngest member of the group is just 25, while the oldest at 29. Didn’t realise that they were that young back then.

kyon… money can always be a reason. These artists have to feed themselves and family just like everyone else; and they don’t have much options considering that they have been training to be a star and nothing else since early teens.
