Hi there!

We're actually one of the contestants for this comp: http://tiny.cc/vote4us

Although the competition does have some drawbacks, we do applaud the Tawainese Tourism Bureau for organising this competition as it has generated some interest and media publicity.

As an improvement point, we think it would've been better if it was cut down to 25 teams so the budget can be increased. We're currently researching on our itinerary and it's definitely a challenge! We're just a team of two people and don't know how the teams with more than three people are going to manage to stick to the budget.

For every view on our video: http://tiny.cc/watchvideo we will be donating NT$1 to World Vision Taiwan.

Seems like another creatively bankrupt Tourism Bureau "initiative." An excellent commentary on the subject can be read here: http://www.taiwantoday.tw/ct.asp?xItem=53100&ctNode=426

There's no free lunch in the world. It's a contest to begin with, you need certain skills and creativity to nail it.

The $850 allowance does seem a bit light... it could cover all costs for a single traveller, but hardly for a team of two or more, especially those who are living in another continent.

registering for a personal blog is the easy part part. But the one rule that I hate was that the round trip ticket is not included. you will have to pay that yourself.

Yep, that's what we call in the west, "the fine print" lol. Be sure to always read the fine print. Never know what rules or limitations they're hiding. ;)

Yeah, I missed that part... took it for granted I guess.

It's a bit odd though, the blog doesn't come to the picture in any part of their contest beside being a requirement.

They lost me on the first rule, "must have a blog" Otherwise it would be a nice trip I bet. Not sure I know what they want as an intenerary. But doesn't matter. No blog, no trip. :(
