Korean pop group Wonder Girls made their American prime time TV debut on popular show So You Think You Can Dance as guest performers on December 9; performing the English version of their hit song Nobody…
No comment about the performance; but their boss JYP is doing some serious PR stuff in US. First as guest stars for Jonas Brothers, then on national TV, and now on prime time; he is doing everything right to promote the girls.
Btw, wondering why Sun Mi was wearing (a really cool pair of golden) sneakers instead of high heels like the rest of the members. Cute though.

While I’ve been saying a Asian group needed to break into the US market for a long time. I don’t think this is going to make it. Personally I don’t think the song is that great or the style. a bit too 90s. I like how she calls them the #1 pop group in Asia. bah she thinks we don’t know better.
the girls are getting chubbier, must be the american food =P
sun mi was wearing sneakers bcoz she was hurt during rehearsal. get well soon ^_^
Mao… I never like any #1 claims; it’s often disputable.
For WG, it’s not entirely wrong to say that they are #1, especially from American perspective… but those who know a bit more about Asian entertainment would have various opinions obviously.
kyon… yeah, western food are more fattening in general. I remember visiting Europe in 2005 and came back 8 kg heavier in just a month lol.
The girls still look slim enough though; a couple of them actually look prettier after gaining a few pounds. And thanks for the Sun Mi note; hope she gets well soon.
Yein- I completely disagree with you, even if you want to give them credit for being the first Korean artists to reach the Billboard Top 100 at 76. They are nowhere near number #1 , due to the fact that Jay Sean a Indian man is currently #1 on the US Billboard Chart.
The host did mentioned ‘pop group’ and not ’star’, ‘artist’ etc… that’s why I think there’s actually some sense about the claim, as I don’t think there’s any Asian pop groups that are more famous than they are in US right now.
As I watched the performance I do appreciate the WG for their talents, hard work and dedication.
However, it’s rather disappointing. The song was so over played. I understand that they are trying to make it into the American music industry but is it with only “No Body”.
There’s a little fast food here and there but like Yein said, some look pretty with it.
For me this is a miss, maybe with another song, or another concept but “No Body” hits no one.
nobody is a tiring song and i can’t wait to see new concept and new song from them, which is next year! so i hope they can start all new and show american what they can do. I’m not going to say anything yet because they haven’t had a full album out but now i think americans are familiar with them, though they might not be impress yet but since this is only the first year it’s too early to talk about success. I can’t wait for their concert in the states too, hopefully soon. :D it’s a pity that fox overplay their song but i can understand they are still a rookie and this show is shown nationwide.
True, I guess is some ways getting to #76 on the US pop chart, gives them the title of #1 Pop group in USA that is Asian. But they claim they are #1 in Asian and considering they only have 3 singles at this point in their career. Tis a huge stretch. Plus they haven’t sold that many compared to huge Chinese and Japanese groups.
I do agree the lyrics are repeative, but you can’t expect them to perform a whole song in english like an american artist. They are trying their best. Being the number one at something totally depends on what people thinks. Can’t wait for their new album.
Ma JIe Mao: I haven’t heard themselves claiming that they are number 1 in Asia. That was just how they were introduced. The lady just reads whatever the prompter says.
True that Emilie, I wasn’t criticizing WG for that I was more criticizing SYTYCD for the untrue comment.
video gone. nvm, i’ll look for myself.
HOPE WONDER GIRLS CAN GET MORE HITS IN THE COMING YEAR 2010。
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO U ALL。
