After a sensational performance in February’s 4CC, Korean figure skater Kim Yuna has set another new record in the ISU World Figure Skating Championships over the weekend at Los Angeles and won the competition by a huge margin.

Kim broke her own record in the women’s short program with 76.12 points in the short program (video), and took the gold medal with a total of a record 207.71 points… the first woman to surpass 200 since the new scoring system was adapted in 2005.

what happen to the japanese competitors? last year they are still shoulder to shoulder in the competitions, but now suddenly kim yuna becomes a league of her own.

It seems Mao Asada was injured but still tried to hard, her leg could take the jumps.
She did try to do some really difficult jumps(jumps that only men have done so far) but she was hurt and it was a bad move.
But this years world championships left me with a bad taste, Kim yuna complaining just before the wc, I wonder if that also might have affected Asada.

The ‘complain’ was likely to be twisted by the media at the first place, can’t blame too much on Kim Yuna… and I doubt professional athletes could be easily affected by those news.

Hope that Asada could take good care of herself, it would be a pity if injuries prevented her to perform at best during Winter Olympic next year.
