Supermerlion – Anime Festival Asia 2010

Photos from the Anime Festival Asia 2010 by blogger Sho@Supermelion, who described the event as “the most terrible convention experience in Singapore” lol. Sharing a few of the pics, you can read full review on Sho’s blog (link above)…

Anime Festival Asia is growing to be the biggest event of its kind (anime, cosplay, J-pop) in Southeast Asia. With the number of sponsors, merchandisers and visitors, AFA has managed to generate enough funds to bring in celebrities like AKB48, JAM Project, Scandal and famous voice actors etc.

I can imagine the possible chaos with the huge attendance; the organiser might be at fault at some issues, but sometimes the crowd itself could spell trouble. Still, lots of people seems happy to be caught in such chaos once a year… an otaku event of such scale is not common in this region after all.

singapore events are like that, popular one always crowded but people still don’t mind going. sho is right about the cosplay, they are not taken good care by the organiser, and there’s too many photographers attending these events just to take pictures of cospalyers, sometimes causing jam at passageways. experience organiser should provide a place to handle this. other than that, i’m happy that singapore can run an event like this.
