Japanese toy manufacturer Bandai is introducing a new high-tech toy… ‘Hex Bug’, a translucent robot modelled after real cockroaches.

The robotic bug has a size of Ｈ33×Ｗ60×Ｄ60 (mm), weighs around 16g and came in 5 colours.

It has six legs, a touch sensor that tells it to change directions when it hits a wall, a micro monitor that makes it vibrate like a cell phone, and a mic sensor that lets it scuttle away when you make loud noises. [Tokyomango]

The retail price for a Hex Bug is 1,995 yen (~USD17); you can order these from Strapya.

McDonald’s McCafe coffee shops debuted in Japan on Wednesday; joining a coffeehouse battle among Starbucks, Tully’s and others. McDonald’s Co (Japan) Ltd opened 7 McCafe shops in Tokyo and 8 in neighboring Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama and Ibaraki prefectures as well as Hyogo Prefecture in Western Japan.

The tea has a breast enlarging herb pueraria mirifica (a plant found in Thailand and Myanmar) that might enhance boob size. I believe ladies (or some guys?) would need to drink a lot of tea to see any effect though.

“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu; 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱) is a 2006 television anime based on the light novels of Suzumiya Haruhi. It is one of the most popular animes in recent years.

The anime adaptation is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara; the main original Japanese voice actors/actresses (seiyū) include Aya Hirano, Tomokazu Sugita, Minori Chihara, Yuko Goto and Daisuke Ono etc.

An Olympic-themed cartoon has been a hit in China since its public release on August 8, 2007.

The 100-episodes animation series is titled “The Fuwa Olympic Cruise” (or “Olympic Adventures of Fuwa”; 福娃奥运漫游记) and features Fuwa, the 5 mascots of Beijing Olympic 2008. The series introduces the history and trivia of Olympic, as well as Chinese cultures and the preparation for Beijing Olympic.

The Beijing Olympic will be held from August 8-24 in 2008.

Zhang Huimin, an 8-year-old Chinese girl has completed her quest running from her homeland Hainan to Beijing, the capital city of China on August 26.

Zhang started her journey in early July and took 55 days to complete 3558km of running. Her father accompanied her all the way on a bicycle.
