Korean men have to serve their mandatory military service for 24 months after the age of 18 unless exemption is given under special circumstances.

Kangta (강타; real name An Chil-hyun) revealed his decision when interviewed in a Korean TV show, “Heart to Heart” on August 17. If everything is going on as plan; he is likely to join the army in early 2008.

Koreans have great respect for young men that served their military duties. So despite missing from the entertainment arena for 2 years, most of the stars still find themselves quite popular after being discharged… same thing should happen to Kangta as well.

Kangta is currently filming a Chinese drama “Love in the City 2″ in China. He revealed that he has plans to release a Korean album an a few performances in Korea by end of the year.
