Korean pop star BoA has revealed the ’secret to her beautiful voice’ in a recent Japanese radio show… apparently all she needs is a bowl of noodles and a happy stomach.

Korean pop star BoA… someone give her a ramyeon please…

“I like noodles. I frequently go to restaurants and eat ramyeon (noodles). I can’t sing well if I’m hungry. People don’t recognize me when I’m in a restaurant,” BoA shared. [Krnloop]

I bet the Koreans and Japanese noodles-maker are working on their accounts now to get BoA as their spokesperson.

An estimated 20,000 girls attended the Tokyo Girls Collection, a biannual fashion event organised by Girls’ Walker magazine, on Saturday (Mar 15) at Yoyogi National Stadium.

Contrary to most of the fashion shows which only invite celebrity guests, TGC is opened to public with an affordable fee (¥3,000-10,000; ~USD30-100). [Hat tip to KN]

Make no mistake though, despite the cheap entrance fee, the show is still as glamourous as other top fashion shows, albeit more casual, with participation of top brands & models, and performances by popular artists (TVXQ, Leah Dizon, DJ Ozma etc).

A slideshow featuring flight attendants from some Korean airlines, i.e. Korean Air, Asiana Airline, Jeju Air and Hansung Airlines.

The first song is “Sweet Dream” by Korean girls group Redsox; and the second song is “If U Wanna” by another girls group Kara [Hat tip to Hopeisnear@Youtube].

If you are patient enough, you would spot Korean actor Jang Dong-gun in one of the picture with some stewardess. Korean actresses Han Ga-in and Nam Sang-mi also feature in the video too, as spokespersons for Asiana and Jeju respectively.

South Korea first astronaut Yi So-yeon
Yi So-yeon

South Korea is replacing their country’s supposedly first man in space by a female engineer, after Russian officials rejected the initial candidate over a breach of rules.

Yi So-yeon, 29, is to replace Ko San, 31, on a Russian flight to the International Space Station on April 8, 2008.

Russia’s Federal Space Agency requested the change because Ko broke training centre rules. Korean officials played down the breaches, which involved removing reading material from the centre.

Ko, who beat more than 36,000 other applicants to the position, has been training in Russia since last year. He will now serve as the back-up astronaut for Yi instead. [BBC]

A Chinese man has rescued a seven-year-old boy from a pond, 20 years after rescuing the boy’s father from the same place. [Hat tip to Spluch]

Wang Weiqing, 58, of Beicheng village, China’s Guangzhou Province, was walking along the pool with his own grandson when he spotted a boy struggling in the water and saved him.

When the grandfather of the rescued boy arrived, he was amazed to see the rescuer was the same man who saved his son, the boy’s father, from the same pool 20 years ago.

Like father like son… thank goodness the saviour was around for both occasions.
