The red dress was purely hand made and took three months to be completed, with dozens of decorative phoenix figures knitted using golden yarn and jades.

The clothing designs of volunteers, staff and technical officials for the Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games were unveiled on Jan 20 by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games (BOCOG), as part of China’s celebration of the 200-day countdown to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. BOCOG unveils uniforms for Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games 2008

Uniforms for BOCOG staff are red while those for volunteers are blue and those for technical officials are grey. The uniforms feature “lucky clouds” – the same pattern used in the design of the Olympic torch… a delicate blend of Olympic concepts with Chinese characteristics.

Looks pretty cool to me.

New uniforms for Chinese Armed Police Force

The Chinese People’s Armed Police Force (CPAPF) will be wearing newly designed uniforms from August 1 onwards.

The current design of the CPAPF’s uniform has been used since 1988; the major changes in the new design are on the cuttings that will suit according to different gender and body shape, as opposed to the current standard size uniform.

Weird haircut to celebrate Hong Kong’s return

A young man from central China’s Henan province has asked his barber to cut his hair into the shape of eight Chinese characters – 庆香港回归十周年 – which literally means “Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return” in English.

The resident of Kaifeng city believes the hairstyle expresses his excitement about the 10th anniversary this Sunday (July 11) since Hong Kong was returned to China from British administration in 1997.
