The Singapore Media Development Authority (MDA) has created a video with their senior management rapping and dancing, in order to promote the growth of the media industry, and perhaps to bridge their relationship with their citizens…

Get creative, can do, rock on… (Original video here)

The bizarre video has been quite a hit since it was posted on YouTube, but has received mix responses from the netizens and Singaporeans.

Frankly, I think the rap and dance sux. I give them thumbs up for their effort though, as I believe it took enormous courage for them to try this gimmick.

A coalition of Japanese television, music and film companies slammed YouTube on Thursday (August 2), saying that the online video sharing service was not doing enough to rid the site of cartoons and other clips that infringe on copyrights.

YouTube has been immensely popular in Japan, trumping rival Japanese video sharing sites. It launched a Japanese language version of the site in June to gain even more viewers, and to post warnings against uploading copyrighted materials in Japanese. Still, clips from Japanese TV and the music industry are rampant on YouTube.

I guessed the problem is not from Japanese users. The most uploaded copyright material from Japan is probably the anime; most of it with either English or Chinese subtitle… the Japanese themselves could watch those programs (anime) anytime and won’t bother to watch it online; it’s the foreigners that are causing headache.

Japan again comes top with 31.8B pv/month. Yahoo! Japan has retained the top spot for 85 months, since the first Japanese statistics were compiled in April 2000.

Yahoo! Japan’s 31.8B pv/mth figure puts it just ahead of the most viewed site in USA, which is the original Yahoo! at 31.6B pv/mth. [Shin]

I am not sure if Yahoo! Japan is the most viewed site in the world though… don’t forget there are lots of internet users in China as well, just that the Chinese might not have proper stats to show their internet usage.
