A Japanese girl skipping rope at amazing speed…

Amazing rope jumper (Video courtesy of Japanprobe)

I am not 100% sure, but I think the girl’s name is Megumi Suzuki. Megumi was recognised as the world record holder for 30 second speed jumping by the Guinness World Book of Records; she made 152 jumps in 30s on Sept 10, 2006.

I am not sure how Megumi looks like, but I bet that not too many Japanese could do 150 rope skipping in 30 seconds (151 in the video)… so it’s probably safe to assume that the girl in the video is in fact Megumi.

Mumin Papa Cafe in Akashi, Japan, has something special to offer their guests beside their food… an experience to relieve yourself in an underwater restroom surrounded by a giant aquarium filled with exotic fishes and a sea turtle.

The luxurious toilet cost the restaurant owner 30 million Yen (~ US$263,000) to build it.

The idea seems cool, but I am not sure if I would be comfortable using the restroom. Besides, I don’t really have the chance to use it… it’s for ladies only.

Kibasen (騎馬戦) is a traditional Japanese game played by Japanese school boys.

The basic of the game involved 4 players on each side, with 3 people (horse) carrying a rider on top. The teams would charge at each other, with the riders attempting to remove the hat (or headband) of the opposition rider and thus defeating the team.

Sometimes they would use 4 carriers instead of 3, especially for younger kids that probably need an extra person to carry the weight.

Still a month to go before Christmas, but Japanese are starting to feel the celebration mood.

A Tokyo hotel has unveiled their ‘Xmas tree’ – a 100m light deco assembling a Xmas tree on November 6; and it seems like Tokyo Disneyland has started their Christmas parade as well…

Lingerie maker Triumph International Japan has unveiled the “My Chopsticks Bra” which features a pair of cups that resemble bowls of rice and miso soup, and a set of collapsible chopsticks that tuck into either side. [Pinktentacle].

The bra was introduced on November 7 in Tokyo to promote the use of reusable chopsticks instead of the the disposable wooden kind.

Japan is one of the largest users of disposable chopsticks (waribashi) in the world, probably the 2nd largest behind China.

China has recently announced their plan to stop the export of disposable chopsticks to reduce the deforestation. It is estimated that 25 millions trees are cut in China each year just to produce disposable chopsticks.

The good thing is that Japanese youngsters these days are having more awareness on environmental issues… carrying a pair of personal reusable chopsticks are seen as a trendy move.

The lingerie model Yuko Ishida is a chopstick carrier herself. I am not sure if she would want to wear that bra on daily basis though.

Below is a video that shows more details about the bra concept…
