Chinese girl with huge facial tumour seeks help

Chinese avatar girl with huge facial tumourThe parents of a young Chinese women dubbed the Avatar girl have appealed for help for an operation to save their daughter’s life.

22-year-old Wu Xiaoyan is suffering from Fibrous Dysplasia – a bone disorder which may result in deformity – which leaves her looking like one of the creations from Avatar movie.

Wu cannot breathe through her nose or smell and can no longer see properly. The tumour has already occupied two-thirds of her face and has to be removed. But the family that has already spent £10,000 on treatment cannot afford the extra £20,000 needed to complete the surgery.

You can read a bit more on Journalism Without Borders and perhaps contribute a bit to the cause. Best wishes to the lady. [via Stareastasia]

  1. Ma Jie Mao says:

Good God someone help this girl!

  2. Surely there must be some rich Chinese philanthropist who would do a humanitarian good deed without expecting a return on his investment. Well, or maybe not. For the medical community this woman is no doubt a wonderment. Observe, study, take notes and observe some more. I sincerely hope someone comes to this lady’s rescue financially so she can hopefully remedy this problem with her face. Although, it seems it would indeed be a complicated procedure.

  3. god bless!
