A video of ‘Earth Rise’ and ‘Earth Set’ taken by the lunar explorer, Kaguya (Selene), which was launched by the Japanese in September 2007.

The video is about 9 minutes (without audio), might be boring for people that are not interested in astronomy related stuff.

A man in southern India has married a female dog in a traditional Hindu ceremony in a bid to atone for stoning two dogs to death, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Indian man marries dog

The 33-year-old man married the sari-draped dog at a temple in the southern state of Tamil Nadu on Sunday after an astrologer said it was the only way to cure himself of a disability, the Hindustan Times newspaper reported.

P. Selvakumar told the paper that he had been suffering since he stoned two dogs to death and strung them up in a tree 15 years ago. [Smh]

I hope the man still has enough sanity to not make love with his ‘bride’.

Thousands of bananas washed up on two Dutch North Sea islands on Wednesday (Nov 7) after at least six containers fell off a cargo ship in a storm and at least one burst open, a local official said.

A one-kilometer (half-mile) stretch of beach on Terschelling island, 115 kilometers (70 miles) north of Amsterdam, was littered with bunches of unripe fruit from Cuba. Bananas also washed up on neighboring Ameland island.

An advert from Guinness, titled Tipping Point, featuring a large scale dominoes toppling game which includes the use of dominoes, books, cupboards, fridges, suitcases, tyres and cars.

Guinness Tipping Point - Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

The advertisement was directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, who was behind the Sony Bravia “Balls” commercial. The film was shot at a remote village called Iruya in northern Argentina.

I think this ad is just decent; I would expect something better from Fuglsig after his Balls creation (which is a classic)… but it’s always fun to watch these dominoes-effect.

A crooked German church steeple has knocked the leaning tower of Pisa from the Guinness book of Records as the world’s most leaning building.

The tower in the village of Suurhusen in northern Germany applied in June for the title and this week had it confirmed that it had beaten the famous landmark in Pisa.

Guinness Book of Records officials confirmed it is leaning at a 5.19 degree angle compared to the 3.97 degree of the tower of Pisa.

Personally I don’t think the 2 is comparable. It’s not just about the angle, but the height as well… the German church seems no where near the height of the leaning tower of Pisa.
