The Lincolnshire Curly Coat pig, often called the sheep-pig, is a breed which became extinct in Britain 37 years ago… but they are back, thanks to Tony York, a British farmer dedicated to reintroduce the breed.

A sheep? A Pig? A sheep pig!

Tony discovered that British farmers had exported many Curly Coats during the early 20th century to Hungary, where their coat helped them survive harsh winters. There they were cross-bred with the Mangalitza, a similar breed, creating the ‘Lincolista’.

He found the sub-breed thriving in Austria, and brought 17 of the animals back to his Pigs Paradise farm near Stonehenge, Wiltshire, driving a trailer 2,400 miles across Europe to ensure they had regular food and water stops.

Tony has named one of his pigs Boris Johnson, after the Tory MP and London mayoral candidate.

The British Pig Association has agreed to register his acquisitions as direct descendants of the Lincolnshire Curly Coat, securing the link with UK farming heritage. [Dailymail]

“W00t”, a hybrid word of letters and numbers used by gamers and netizens is chosen as Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year for 2007 via an online poll.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word is used for expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yay”.

I don’t use this quite often, but w00t often reminds me of the old steam-powered-train horn… like w00t w00t. I normally used it as a sign of approval for what others are saying in some online discussion boards.

An interesting music video teasing the current trend in internet world, where billions of dollars are pilled into startup companies that have no proven track record besides some optimistic forecast.

Won’t you blog about this song?… Yes, I just did

The song is not really great… but what a piece of viral marketing gem by the Richterscales.

Former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler on TV show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” last week and stunned the audiences with some dumb moment.

She was asked: “Budapest is the capital of what European country?”

Video - Europe is a country and everyone speaks French???

Well, there is nothing wrong if we don’t know where is Budapest; my first guess was Romania and I got it wrong as well (the correct answer is Hungary)… Kellie’s responses beat me though.

Regardless, Kellie managed to raise at least US$25,000 for charity by appearing on the show… it doesn’t matter if she is dumb or not, she is probably doing better than most of us in contributing to the society. Thumbs up for that.

A cute video of baby giant pandas playing in snow…

Spectacular picture of mobula rays leaping out of the ocean; taken in the Sea of Cortez at the southern end of the Gulf of Mexico.

A man competing against his pet dog in a drinking competition on German TV show… can a man drink (drink like a dog to be precise) a bowl of water faster than a dog?

Btw, I think I saw Celine Dion.

Happy Thanksgiving to people who are celebrating it. For those who are not familiar with Thanksgiving… it is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks for the things that one has at the conclusion of the harvest season.

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. [Wiki]
