The Kingdom Tower will cost $1.2 billion and take 63 months to build. The tower is part of the Kingdom City project with a total estimated cost of $20 billion. Concept image by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, via Huffingtonpost

  1. I’m gonna go skydive from the top :D

  2. It will be interesting to see what that part of the world is like when the oil is gone

    • Yein Jee says:

That’s probably the main reason why the gulf nations are building these extravagant stuff, to prepare for the future. It’s arguable if it’s a good plan or not, not that they have much choice… they have to try something.

  3. Building the tallest structure is usually a sign of decline to come.

And speaking of when the oil runs out – don’t fret because while oil production will decline, it won’t run out completely in our lifetime. It’ll just get a hec of a lot more expensive. Oil producers should be more worried about military invasion by the less fortunate peoples.

  4. Wow. Building the highest building is the only thing that the Arab world is good at. I don’t know what they are trying to prove.

  5. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome

  6. Well, after beating her own famous skyscraper “Bujr Kahlifa”, Saudia Arabia has now taken up the task again by starting the construction on ‘The kingdom tower”, only to beat its own record in future too. Why let the United states and Japan take all the leads?
Reminds me of the time in history where kings used to build castles and palaces, for leisure and status symbol. Things haven’t changed much after all!
