Lunch at Kin Shui Tei Japanese Restaurant at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort last Sunday. First heard about the restaurant from my ex Japanese boss years ago, who recommended the place for its authentic Japanese cuisine…
Somehow it took me years to make my maiden visit, which turned out to be one of the best Japanese meals I’ve ever had; guess it’s better late than never…
We ordered a sashimi set, a seafood teppanyaki set, some tempuras and a king roll (top pic). Was a bit surprised when the sashimi was served, as the portion was quite generous. The raw fish was fresh and melt-in-the-mouth; loved the crunchy roe too…
The Teppan seafood was decent. The prawns were huge and cooked to perfection; a bit disappointed with the sea bass though. The cheese complemented the prawns pretty well, but probably a bit too strong for the fish…
My favourite was actually the tempura. It’s easy to make a good tempura, but it’s a different story to make a great one, and their tempura was great. The batter was light, not oily, and still crispy by the end of the meal; top class…
And a fine meal wouldn’t be complete without a dessert ain’t so?
Wasn’t me who paid the bill; estimated to be around RM200 (USD55) for two pax, quite reasonable for its standard.
