Andrew… I don’t think it’s a matter of cowardness; if Anwar is a coward he would not need to go against the government… my point is, is he over-reacting or making the right decision to seek refuge.

Anon#7… the death threat was long over, nothing to be sorry about that. Thanks for your concern though.

sorry to hear about your death threat yeinjee,that must be horrible.

anwar left turkish embassy already. that makes me wonder why he want to seek refuge at first… the situation doesn’t seem worse than it is now. if all he wants is attention for his public safety, he did it…. but i agree with what you said, is it the best option to seek refuge at foreign embassy? it makes the country looks bad, but in fact is we are no way like myanmar or pakistan or zimbadwe.

This is politics at play. Let us quietly sit and watch the show unfold. I’d reserve my comments till later.

But just some ideas floating in my mind. This could be PR’s play not BN. The speed in which Saiful’s damning photos were published, for one.

Or PR knew this was about to happen ………. and the countermeasures already planned.

Simply too slick and seemed to have caught BN flat-footed.

I simply love my country. So much drama and sandiwara everyday.

I agree with you Yein Jee. This guy should come out and be brave. He is someone who wanted to lead Malaysia how come he choose to be a coward. The death threat from ‘numerous credible sources’ sounds funny and all I can imagine he’s such a ‘drama queen’.

Nat… serious enough to call the cops… once, when I was around 17… and it haunted me for months despite nothing really happen besides a bloody threatening note; yes, I can understand the feeling.

If I am a politician and received a death threat (and when the cops cannot be trusted), the first thing I would do is to make it publicly known, and exposed the possible sources of threats. If the ‘enemies’ are still bold enough to carry on with the assassination after I made the public statements, just be it… at least Malaysians would know how rotten the country has (potentially) become.

Seeking refugee is a joke. Does Anwar really received threats that are serious enough to warrant his action? I am not sure… he is not providing much insight about the threat obviously.

For me, seeking refugee has to be the last resource that I would want to take… and to be frank, Anwar couldn’t show the public the reasons to justify his action.

It’s way too dramatic.

but i c ur point also. seek refugee sounds so chaos, like african country in political crisis. malaysia still a peaceful place compared to pakistan or zimbabwe, we dun need to seek refugee from other countries. anwar might have overreacted this time, but pity him also.. if life threaten hard to make good decision… his advisors need to take the blame for the stupid suggestions.
